Seems really good but don’t understand my waist measurement!

The app seems really good/useful but I don’t understand the waist measurement I was given, as it seems really high. I’ve looked up the BHF method of measuring my waist, but I’m a bit confused because my natural waist (ie at its narrowest point) is around 2 or 3 inches above my belly button. If I measure lower than this I am hitting up against my hips?

Less than one star . Less than half a star !

Impossible to use , and get the correct tilt . Not user friendly . And it is stricter than BMI ! Results are incredibly inaccurate to say the least !!! I’m 6 feet tall 220 lbs and a 36 inch waist . It said 54% body fat which translates to beyond morbidly obese . Tried it again it said 30% body fat once I finally aligned the tilt . Which is still more than I actually am ! It’s a scam . Don’t waste your money ! Don’t fall for the con artist .

Misleading

Requires subscription to do a scan. Useless without scan, just a bunch of advertisements.
At least give a few scans so users can see if product worth the price, and determine difficulty of scan process.

Not accurate…

Agree with other reviewer. This application is inaccurate and shouldn’t be used to track progress. I was able to get a variation of 42% just by changing the lightening.

Unusable due to inaccuracies

Did 3 scans on day one, which showed 24%, 46%, and 32%. This app has one purpose… to precisely measure body fat % to track. Even if the info isn’t 100% accurate, it should be repeatable and precise so I can at least see the change even if the absolute numbers are off a bit.

Immediately cancelled subscription. Regretted this purchase immediately.

Easy to use once I got the hang of it!

Definitely a good way to work out your true body size

Polished and worth the money

After getting through the intro videos it was straightforward to use and helped me get a great personalised insight into my health.

Loved the fact that it was so specific to my body, miles better than a bmi test!

Game changer!

I have struggled with managing my weight all my life and always found BMI to be really inaccurate - thank goodness for this app! Especially helpful over lockdown when I can’t get to the machines at the gym. I’m not the best on my iphone so was relieved to find this easy to use with the instructions.

Really useful!

I struggled with keeping track of my weight throughout lockdown, but this app has really simplified it for me, I’m not a fan of just being on the scales so this puts into context my health in a much easier way.

Easy to use! Just make sure you watch the tutorial video to get the most accurate reading!

Definitely worth the money!

Great app

The app is really easy to use and I was very impressed by how accurate the technology is. Standard BMI is such an inaccurate measure for my body type so I’m very pleased there’s now a good alternative.

bea

good app

Doesn’t work

Highly inaccurate in calculating body fat. I’m a bit surprised the Mayo Clinic puts their name behind this. I was skeptical before I downloaded it — how can you analyze body fat from photos alone?

The first time I used the app, it registered my body fat level at 20%. I had my personal trainer measure my body fat the same day and his machine calculated my body fat level at 16%. After a lot of work in the gym, my body fat is down to 11% but the app not says it’s 22%. Perhaps the app doesn’t work for muscular people?

Interesting idea

Not sure if this test is that accurate. It overestimated my body fat by 4% vs the one I received from my personal trainer in the gym.

Bad. Not worth your money

This app is not accurate and the setup for the body scanner is weird and inconvenient. BMI isn’t always reliable but I’d rather go with something familiar than continue struggling with this app

Response from developer

Hi Ryan, really sorry you've had trouble with the app. Our team of UI designers found that the current scanning process was the most effective and the simplest way of capturing your results, but we always welcome any feedback we can use to improve the experience. We do find that watching the user videos can really help with your experience of the app - these can be found in the app menu. Sometimes users compare results to bio-impedance to gauge accuracy, leading to a difference in results, which is what you may have experienced. We can assure you that BVI will give you the correct accurate result. Our extensive clinical research and validation has proven that BVI will provide a significantly more reliable and accurate result than bio-impedance. BVI accuracy has been validated by numerous external sources against gold standard scanning such as DEXA and MRI, so if you would like to see our validation evidence please email info@select-research.com and we would be happy to share this with you.
