Preferans is the classic three-player trick-taking card game of the Balkans — a game of bidding, bluffing, and careful trick-counting played in kafanas and living rooms for generations. Also known in English as "Preference," it's part of the same card-game family as Whist and Bridge, but with its own bidding ladder, its own contracts, and its own traditional paper score sheet. This app brings the full tradition to iPhone, iPad, and Mac — authentic rules, beautiful cards, and opponents smart enough to make every hand count. REAL RULES, YOUR CHOICE OF TRADITION Play by Serbian rules or Croatian rules — the same contracts and scoring, with the direction of play and terminology switching automatically with your chosen language, or set it yourself in Settings. Every contract is here, from a cautious 2-of-spades all the way up to Sans (no trump) and Betl (misère), with kontra, rekontra, subkontra, and mortkontra doubling, refa, and the traditional "kapa" (hat) when a player's score runs out. OPPONENTS THAT ACTUALLY PLAY Forget bots that play at random. Each opponent runs Monte Carlo simulation layered with trained neural networks for bidding, whist decisions, kontra, and betl and sans declarations — real game-AI techniques, tuned specifically for Preferans. Four difficulty levels are available for each seat, so you can sit a beginner across from an expert, or challenge two experts at once. Turn on Aggressive Bidding if you want a livelier, riskier table. WATCH THE BOTS THINK New to the game, or just curious how a hand should be played? Switch to Watch Bots mode and spectate two AI opponents at full strength, with a live panel showing exactly what each bot considered — plus a full reasoning log for every deal. A REAL SCORE SHEET No abstract point totals — a proper paper-style score sheet for every match, with the traditional pool, penalty, and soup columns, refa marks, and a crossed-out hat when someone climbs back out from under it. Write off an unfinished match at any time and keep the result.
