Works too well

Too many false positives. Alerts over magnitude 5.5 quakes 100 miles away that I don’t even feel. Practically gives me a heart attack several times a year over moderate quakes so far away I can’t feel them. I guess false positives are better than real dangerous quakes that are missed. That said, I wish they could perfect the model so it only alerts if a quake is actually dangerous in the area my device is at. I do not need warnings for moderate sized quakes so far away that they are not felt here.

Spot On

I just exp the 2nd time this app notified me about an earthquake. Last time I got a Notification just seconds before the earthquake! This time, I received one about a minute after. I have both MyShake and QuakeFeed. MyShake is dependable, and QuakeFeed is for information. I’m very satisfied with MyShake app!

Buggy & untrustworthy

App frequently crashes at startup. Also disturbingly sends urgent “drop & cover” alerts for events far away, like M6 Mendocino temblor to Santa Clara County residents. Untrustworthy

DO NOT DOWNLOAD

I made the mistake of downloading this app & it got stuck open on my Home Screen forcing me to do a hard shutdown of my phone just so I could delete it. I am now concerned that it will still be active in the background after reading the horror stories in other reviews.

Stopped working this year

Not sure why, for years this app has worked perfectly but since iOS 26 I never get earthquake notifications anymore? I gave it the appropriate permission and nada.

Waste of space

Literally, had an earthquake less than a 2 miles away & this app recorded nothing. Not a surprise. Just time to delete this app.

App does not track the phone. Sometimes way off.

I went on a Caribbean cruise and in the middle of the night we were awakened in the middle of the night by an alert for a moderate quake in California that wasn’t even felt at our home, we checked. Another middle of the night alert at home was completely false, terrifying me for no reason.

Please add device tracking for better accuracy.

I like this app, but I have a VERY important suggestion PLEASE READ

I really like the fact that this app can notify users before an earthquake, which is very useful for earthquake prone areas like California. Although, I would like you to at least consider the following suggestion. I think you should have 2 alert variants. 1 is for the magnitude 4.5 to 6.5 and let out an alert that is the same volume as the current one, but it sounds a little less urgent. The other would be for magnitude 6.6+ and would be the same volume but sound very alarming to signal to users to watch out.

The app is great!

This app is very good, it alerted me about 12 seconds before shaking over here in El Centro in February of 2025.

Overall, great app for alerts but there is a suggestion I want to make, there should be an option that lets you adjust the option at what minimum magnitude you get alerts from. And another optimization, is that you should be able to change the alert sound to a custom sound.

Worked well

Earthquake happened gave clear warning

Never works

My wife’s goes off, mine doesn’t. We’ve sat down with both our phones and verified our settings in the app and elsewhere are the same. I never get notifications.

Heart attacks for no reason

I live in earthquake country and I do not recommend this app unless you're a surgeon, dentist or perform some other such task.

It sends heart-attack alerts, either moments before, during or after an earthquake depending how close you are to the epicenter, and on how well it's working at that time. It delivers alerts that will wake you up in the middle of the night, for minor earthquakes that are not worthy of an alert to someone not close enough to be affected. It also has sent a false alert for an earthquake far away that didn't actually occur.

If the developers can tweak it so it is more finely tuned perhaps it will be of use to the public but at this time it only causes loss of sleep and stress therefore I am deleting the app.

Works!

Alerted us 6mins before the actual earthquake.

Had to delete due to bugs

Had to delete this app after being woken up at 1:41 in the morning with the warning. On iOS 26.4 this won’t let you change the intensity, current location, or distance for events.

In the few times it does work it has saved me maybe a second or two at most, but it seems the app is more alarming than the earthquake itself.

Ffs

This is the FOURTH time in the past couple of years that this thing has blared in my ear warning me to drop and cover IN THE MIDDLE
OF THE NIGHT, and then….nothing. No shaking, sometimes the earthquake is over 300 miles away, sometimes closer but nothing worth waking someone up for, just useless. And then I’m up for the next 2-3 hours because of the adrenaline of it.
I’m over this!

Never accurate

Even when the TV says, we’re having an earthquake or we had one an hour ago it doesn’t show it. Chose them all kinds of strange places days ago, but not locally.

Not dependable

I live in Oakland and want this app so I get the alerts. I haven’t been receiving even the notification half the time. If your looking for safety this won’t help much

AMAZING LIFESAVING APP (sometimes)

This app is incredible. I’ve had 2 warnings both being 4.5 and above game me a good 10-15 seconds before the shaking started and can be very good for earthquakes that are 6.0 and above giving you time to tell your family get out side out under a table. Like I said, amazing app

Works to alert you about earthquakes

This is the only Earthquake App on my phone that warned me and gave me an alert to ‘Duck and Cover’ before the earthquake hit last night at 12:30AM. (There was only a 5 second warning, but since the earthquake was 10 miles away, perhaps that’s all the time that was allowed. Quakes move at the speed of sound while alerts are over radio waves—speed of light.) The App definitely woke me up, but better safe and groggy than dead…
