Should be add free
Response from developer
I get where you’re coming from—on the surface it looks like a simple client, and yeah, tools like OpenSSH are free. But the price isn’t really about just the underlying library, it’s about everything around it: ongoing development, maintenance, updates, testing across devices, security hardening, and just keeping the app reliable over time (15 yrs and counting). $12 as a one-time purchase (not a subscription) is honestly on the low end for a tool that’s meant to be used repeatedly. A lot of apps have moved to recurring pricing, so keeping it a single upfront cost is a deliberate choice to avoid that. It’s about the price of a mediocre salad or 3 gallons of gas here in the USA. Many digital pets and crops have been purchased for far far more. In an ideal world, sure—software would just be free. But in reality, there are real costs behind even “simple” apps, and those have to be covered somehow. The alternative is usually ads or subscriptions, and neither is great either, as you’ve pointed out. That said, the ad experience shouldn’t get in the way of basic usability—that’s fair feedback and worth improving. Full page ads should have a close box although not terribly prominent.
Worked just fine

Unusable

The issue has been fixed in the latest release. In the future, there's a feedback form in the app which is a faster way to communicate any problems.
Lancement impossible !
Good basic query tool
A very useful addition would be a view of the tables and fields while you are coding the query rather than having to d
Select “Tables” and hope you remember the correct table and field spelling.
Also would be nice to be able to tap the table or field to add them to the query.
Response from developer
Thanks for your review! One tip: The schema viewer for columns/tables has a button next to each entry that will insert the name into your query so you don’t need to type it. Ipads also have a completion bar that will help complete names as you type.
Great app
Garbage
Response from developer
Hi, Sorry to hear you’re having issues with the app. There is an internal feedback mechanism within the app where we can better offer support and diagnose issues with 2-way communication. It’s difficult to respond to the issue you’re having without more information. There is an included demo database configuration and query that returns sets of 100 rows at a time out of a total set of 4079 records. There are a number of reasons why you might be encountering memory issues limiting the number of rows you can select. What query are you running? What does your database schema look like? What device and OS version are you running? The app (which has served iPhone 5 - 13 users since 2012) has been designed to use minimal resources, observe system memory warnings, and work under adverse conditions. Querying large sets of data in terms of rows or columns (e.g. images, or blobs) could be causing the issues you’re seeing. Additionally, older devices are more likely to have memory warnings when running the latest OSs. That said, perhaps you’ve encountered a bug. If so, we’d like to know more so that we can fix it.

The ads will kill you
Developer got offended because I gave an honest review. Poor baby. Here’s the problem... Many apps have ads. There are ads and THERE ARE ADS. In this case, the ads take over the entire screen and prevent any further action until they pass or are dismissed. This essentially discourages the reasonable evaluation of the app, which therefore prevents upselling to the paid version.
To the developer - LISTEN to your reviewers and try to understand why they’re giving you poor ratings instead of getting offended. Many here are saying the same thing - the ads are too “in your face”. I, for one, don’t tolerate this and therefore deleted the app and left a 1 star rating. I don’t care that you’ve been trying to succeed (apparently without much progress) since 2012, as it is apparent why you’ve been unsuccessful in almost 10 years of trying - you don’t listen to your market.

From our first release back in 2012, we've offered a free to use version of our product that offered fast queries over flakey mobile connections. Fast forward to 2021 and we now offer parameterized queries, Multipath TCP, Siri Shortcut scripting, iCloud, SSH, SSL, dark mode, iPad 12.9", etc support, most of which remains free. In the meantime, the competitors of 2012 have all vanished. Yes there are ads to help offset our expenses. Don't want them? We offer a one-time purchase to upgrade to the full version. Back in 2012, it was only $0.99 to get rid of the ads. Those original purchasers now enjoy the additional features added for the past 9 years in addition to once premium features like SSH/SSL. Within the landscape of similar apps: many charge costly subscription rates, only offer free tiers that connect to sample databases, or don't offer basic functionality (e.g., parameterized queries). Considering ads have been around for a while in mobile apps (and the internet) for quite some time, we're a bit puzzled that someone would go through the effort to give us a 1 star review because of them.
Update removed function. Not cool
After the fact an innocent looking update broke existing function. Introduced low limit on number of queries. No additional allowed. Also broke parameter replacement. It’s a delicate balance on encouraging paid upgrade vs forcing and chasing away customers.
It is not cool to remove function from customers who’ve already installed an app.
I’m forced to find alternatives. May write my own.
Keine ssh-Verbindung!
Funktioniert zuverlässig
Aber um mal schnell von unterwegs zugreifen zu können ganz nett. Es ist aber noch Luft nach oben.
Buy no ads twice?
There's no option to restore previously purchased options (something that is required by Apple for apps).
Edit: Developer says to restore purchases but there is no way to do that (as I pointed out).
Response from developer
Edit: sorry if it wasn’t clear. Just do the purchase again. After the purchase (unfortunately not before...) it will say you already purchased and won’t be charged again. Original response: Hi, The product Id has never changed. If you bought it previously, it will just restore the purchase. Again, it’s a non-consumable item and we’ve never created another product id to purchase. So it’s impossible to purchase twice. Make sure you are using the same Apple ID you used for your previous purchase. We’ll add a Restore purchases option in the future to lessen the confusion. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the free upgrade to the SSH version and update your rating. There’s also a feedback function in the app if you would like to get direct support in the future.
