Returning fan, disappointed

I have been a huge fan of five-bn for a while now. I genuinely believe they’re one of the best if not the best developer out there for (especially free) point and click games of this type on this platform.

Some positives: quality of life improvements! Many things are smoother and more responsive in comparison to previous games by this dev, clicking feels better, puzzle solutions continue to improve over time with this dev as well, and I love the indicator that comes up when clicking. All great!

HOWEVER: I’m hugely disappointed by the way AI was used in the creation of this game. It is a huge reduction in quality. I miss the old 3D animations. They had so much character and they were consistent and fun! I could excuse a bit of AI text (sparingly) as I’ve seen in a couple of these games, especially if translated, but the new AI cutscenes and the obvious AI “enhancement” in some other areas is a massive downgrade, and I hope that it doesn’t continue. People play these games because of the hard work put into them that it is clear this developer is capable of and quite talented at! I urge you, dev, please keep playing to your strengths and choose to put out high quality games rather than letting them devolve into AI slop.

Sincerely, a fan that is worried about one of their favorite devs jumping on the AI bandwagon when their games were so so much better without.

Too much pixel hunting and too few games

I love Five BN. The graphics are wonderful. The stories are entertaining. However, this particular game has turned into a pixel hunt. I realize that hidden object point and click games mean having to hunt a scene for clues and tools, but this one has sooo many multiple piece objects which are scattered (apparently haphazardly) throughout the scenes and adding to that, in many scenes the areas where you do get an object, continue to stay active, thus, you never know whether there’s something there still to find later. Personally I find that and the pixel hunts frustrating. (Please close windows once they’ve served their purpose.) I like these kind of games, generally, but this one has turned into mostly a pixel hunt with very few games to solve.

Bug

Usually love this developers games however there seems to be a bug. Wont allow me to pick up the key to cleaning closet at the hotel. Used up all my hints to try but wouldn’t happen.

Chapter 3 Solving the puzzle

In the settlement centre, the congregation house, there was a solving a puzzle in that long table. The token needs to be move to the patterned spaces according to its number. However, the token with number 4 is impossible to move around and end in a patterned spaces. Even if you move the token with the 2 and 3, these will only move around the patterned spaces near them, unlike the token with number 4 which does not end to any patterned spaces. Kindly please check the that solving puzzle and address the issue. Thank you.

Another masterpiece by Five-BN

I’ve been a fan of this publisher for a while now. Each puzzle is unique and the story is gripping. The use of AI actually has me grinning at each cut scene. The lead character looks like a young Chris Pine to me!

LOVE BN games!

This one is as beautiful as all the rest, and with a good storyline.

STOP USING AI FOR ANIMATION

I've played almost every FIVE BN game, from lost lands to New York to mystery detective 2 (still currently figuring it out. The earlier games were better and I've been in more of a mood to go back to the Lost Lands series and play everything 1-7, but recently the newer ones make me feel like there's not a lot of humanity in the animations and it feels less human and more robot-like and please go back to taking the time to animate things. I'd rather have a good well made game than have one that feels like im just playing to get through another game in the series.

Lili Martins é uma babaca!

O jogo é ótimo! Mas a Lili Martins não presta porque deu spoiler da história, retirem o comentário dessa idiota!!!

Great

Wasn’t expected this ending. It’s was mysterious and interesting.

Game was good, AI was not

The game was very good, like usual, but the AI was awful. Hand-made content always is better.

AI

All AI

One of the best

Makes you look closely! Puzzles not year hard but finding stuff on an iPhone screen quite difficult!

Negative main character

The graphics are super clean, however the two stars are due to the poor writing, especially of the main character who comes across as arrogant and insulting most of the time. There is also a part of the game where the grown man main character approaches two young girls on the beach. They tell him they aren’t supposed to talk to strangers, so the next task is seeking flowers to give to the girls in order to get information from them. The game designers could have come up with better ways to have the character gain information other than bribing young children who have already expressed that they do not want to speak with him.

AI slop, but thank you

These games are fun, but it’s so sad to see how much AI was used throughout. Even in the writing you guys left a prompt.

I love you guys!

Having played all titles available, through Lost Lands, Darkness and Flame, New York etc., I absolutely love the games this developer creates. After the lengthy gap between LL 10 and LL 11 it was obvious that technology had improved, giving cinematic quality to the storyline segues so, I was delighted to find this 2nd instalment of cases from our ‘dishy’ Detective.

Firstly, the further improved cinematic quality to storyline set ups was wonderful, allowing me to empathise with and invest in the storylines of characters. The split chapters was also familiar to me from playing other titles.

The gameplay itself is as you would expect; needing to find hidden items to progress. Some more challenging than others but all solvable with trial, error and experience - even without spending on coins for hints etc.

I wasn’t sure what the link was between chapter 1 and the last two chapters, but it didn’t spoil the adventure.
My biggest gripe is that there is such a long wait between titles being released, but compared to the quality of some other developers’ hidden object/mystery games that are churned out relatively often, the wait is 100% worth it. Can’t wait (but will), for the 3rd instalment.

Fab!

Hooray! Another wonderful game!

Five B-N games are superb. When I write reviews for your games, I struggle to find the best superlatives to describe how excellent they are. Thank you so much.

I saw a fan club for your games on Reddit. I am currently travelling, but will join when I get home. Have you thought about a newsletter for us? I would love to know more about all of you.

Anyway, thought you might like to know about Reddit.

Amazing job!

This game was so much fun to play. Thank you, can’t wait for the next one!!

Frustrating…again.

Five BN games have the potential to be enjoyable but why are the puzzles always so convoluted and all the pixel hunting for the morphing objects etc?

When armed with multiple bits and pieces of items you need within the game that require more bits and pieces to complete them, it starts to become repetitive.

The artwork is fabulous and clearly you like a good story.

I’ve played quite a lot of your games over the years but almost always find myself getting frustrated with the absence of an “item prompt” that so many other games thrive on. Sometimes, you need a basic instruction for one of the myriad of items or their pieces you’ve spent ages pixel hunting for. Quite often I find myself going round in circles which gets tedious.

A simple prompt here and there to point the player in the right direction is an option that would make your games a bit more user friendly. A clue…perhaps.
