Have to keep logging in and still can’t get access to app

This app has been ok however that past few days it prompts me to log in each time I open the app.
I go through the process and it takes me back to the login screen where I have to do my password/pin/biometrics again and it just cycles through the process again.
Terrible that it kept logging me out and now I can’t even actually log in.
Checked for updates and there are none available

Great App

I have read reviews seeing that people are constantly being logged out! I have never had this problem and find it to be extremely user friendly, as soon as I open the app it uses face recognition ALWAYS. It’s great that I don’t have to carry my physical drivers licence around with me anymore.

Response from developer

Hello, thanks so much for your feedback - we're glad the app is working well for you! Please remember to check for any app updates to ensure the app is performing at its best. Thanks, Ethan

Update: authentication issues

Dismal bugs after all these years is unacceptable! What is VicRoads really trying to do here! Can’t login after upgrading my iPhone despite multiple installs. Get your act together VicRoads!

Update: 22/10 to their credit, the developer provided an App update which fixed my authentication issue.

Response from developer

Thank you for reaching out and for following up via our Support email - the details you provided were incredibly helpful in pinpointing the issue. We’ve just released a new version of the app that addresses this login bug. Please update to the latest version of the app, and you should be able to log in without any issues. Thanks, Liam

Overall Amazing, Finally, but still some improvements needed

It’s finally smooth, a pleasure to use when the internet connection is decent, with amazing UX designs. But a lot of the functions still require a redirection to the website version of VicRoads, and it’s still missing key features such as the Marine license.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback! We hope to be able to bring you additional features, such as the boat licence, in the future.

Latest update is good!

At this stage the latest update seems to have resolved the issue with it constantly logging people out. This app is now quite useful! Will update my review to 5 stars once I’ve used it for a bit longer if it continues to work as well as it is right now. Thank you!

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback. An issue with the myVicRoads app was causing a small number of iPhone users to be logged out unexpectedly. A new version of the app is now available that should fix the problem. You can update to the latest version in the app store, or go to this link using your phone: https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vicroads-mobile-apps

Bad

Lost my physical card ID so I relied on this as my form of ID for a few months, annoying to use but easier than carrying wallet around.

One day it crashed for me and one of my friends, with our ID completely inaccessible but all of our information still on the app?? To this day I can still not access my ID. I have tried everything to access it with information online and nothing worked. Had to end up buying a new ID because I wasn’t allowed into venues.

Do better. An “official” form of ID shouldn’t pick and choose who it wants to work for. It should work for every single device.

Hi, thanks for reaching out and leaving a review. Please give us a call on 13 11 71 and our customer service team will be able to take a look at this for you. Thanks, Marcus

was good but they changed it

I recently lost my license a couple months ago and was using this app as a form of identification so I’ll be able to go out to buy etc. But since the new recent update they’ve made changes so that people with suspended licenses and similar situation as mine can’t access the online physical license meaning subsequently I’m unable to go out until I get my license as I have no other form of identification…. GREAT UPDATE

It would be very useful

However, the fact that I have to log into my account so often when I open the app means that it would be so much easier to just use the physical card, especially if I were pulled over while driving, it would look a lot worse if I had to log into my account, and use the 2fa before I could access my ID.
I like being able to use a digital card. It makes it so much easier if I forget my physical one at home, so please either allow the card to be added to wallet, or just have the on device login part. The part with the pin/biometric

Now this app is even less useful, as it doesn’t allow you to sign in.
This app is worse than useless, and no one seems to be updating it.

Thanks for your feedback. An issue with the myVicRoads app was causing a small number of iPhone users to be logged out unexpectedly. A new version of the app is currently being rolled out that should resolve this issue. Very buggy. Constantly logs you out and makes you sign up again

The app should be a simple login using a 4 digit pin or Face ID. Not launching it and going through the process of signing up from scratch whenever you need to access your licence. Ends up being pointless and useless. It’s really not that hard to make a decent and simple app that only needs to show you your licence. That’s it. It’s been out for more than a year now so should’ve been fixed by now.

It’s ok I guess

Its use is limited to holding a digital licence, which it does pretty well, but it would be a much more useful app if it were expanded to also include the other vic roads services, specifically the ones linked to peoples VicRoads accounts. I see you’ve added passkeys to other parts of VicRoads, but not the app. Having to login every time the app is opened is irritating at best - Passkeys would solve this.

Overall it’s alright, but it has the potential to be far better than it currently is

Awful for digital license.

The App is absolutely awful. Constantly singing you out or requiring you to log back in using pin when you have biometrics set up or even worse constantly needing you to set up the app again over and over and even worse if it needs to update the app it won’t let you open it!

When you actually need to use it to show your license it makes you jump through so many hoops, with the trouble I caused if you need it straight away without spending 5 minutes prepping it to use every time you might as well just carry your physical card with you.

Continual need to login destroys usefulness

This app could have been good but it breaks one of the golden rules of User Experience: it has to be easier to use than the alternative. The app continually logs you out, so every time you really need to use it, you have to go through the long process to basically sign up again: (username/password, accept two terms and conditions, set a 6 digit passcode {again, you have to do this every time}, enable biometrics). What this means is, every time you really need the app, you waste your time redoing the login you’ve already done many times. If they fix this, the app will be good, but so far they haven’t even responded to feedback I’ve sent.

So far, so good

I had a VicRoad account already so downloaded the app, logged in and authenticated. It all just worked. Was all done in 2 mins! So good that I don’t have to worry about carrying my card any more. Look forward to it just being in my phone wallet one day!

BRILLIANT EASY TO USE APP

So easy to set up, even a child or a 70 year old (me) can do it. The ability to display full licence details or restrict information to name + address only, or just prove you are over 18 (self evident in my case) are great features. Yes more enhancements could be added. As mentioned by others - caching your licence would be good, to enable it to be viewed by police when your picked up for speeding through Woop Woop and there is no reception. But there other ways to do the same thing - take a screen capture of your digital licence and provide that to the Woop Woop police (better than nothing, which is what the unlicensed drivers on our roads use)

5/5 to 1/5 in a day. Bugs to be squashed.

Perfect on first start up and easy process to get access to the license. Next day, the app asked me log in again, starting the whole set up process again. I quit out of frustration, and now whenever I launch it I get a pop up saying “Error, something went wrong. Try again” but when I click try again it simply pops the error up again. Really poor form. Looking forward to a less buggy update.

Works well but still needs improvement

I’m pretty happy to have my digital license but I get logout all the time and it takes me quite a bit to login again because I have to go through all the disclaimers and OTP in order to login again. Hopefully you’ll be able to do it faster in the future

No issue with setup but it takes ages to load…

Love not having to carry a wallet around now, although consider opening it before you get into a 4G/5G weak network zone like I did recently when trying to collect a parcel in metropolitan Victoria-it literally took 5 mins for it to load.

Or continue to carry your ID until the issue is addressed.

Also wanting to know what the laws/regulations Are around delivery drivers taking a photograph of it when regulated items are delivered?

Works well, as expected.

Just for the people who are having issues . You need to make sure you have login detail with VicRoads via there website . Then you link your drivers licence there . Once you have done that you’re able to login with your email and password on the app. :) I only really downloaded the app more incase I forgot my licence at home and got pulled over.. haha

Utterly useless

I downloaded this app in the hope that the availability of the app on the App Store meant that electronic licences were finally being rolled out for Victorian drivers licence holders. I was wrong. The app told me I had to register on the VicRoads website and wait in line.
Then an update was served to my phone. I opened the updated app in the vain hope that the availability of the update meant that I would be able to use my electronic drivers license. I was wrong again.
Again the app directed me to register on the VicRoads website and wait in line. I clicked on the link and to my surprise the website said registration isn’t necessary but I would have to wait in line.
Then another update, and another, and so forth. Same messages and outcome each time.
So far at as I can see the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing at VicRoads.
Thus app is an utterly utterly utterly useless waste of space in my phone with no functionality whatsoever except to frustrate users. If that was VicRoads’ intention, then this app is a complete success. Otherwise, it’s a failure.

The most confusing app I’ve ever used

You would think that with so many people trying to get their learners in victoria they would at least TRY and make their app easily accessible and clear to understand. But they haven’t.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to take my online learners test for two days now and I’ve genuinely made no progress. They tell you that you need to enrol for a course and that you can do so “from your dashboard”. Nowhere on the whole app can you find a “dashboard”. Don’t even get me started on finding the actual ONLINE test. The only information they give you about taking the test is that you can book to sit it in person, and then proceed to give no other information concerning the online aspect.

Not to mention, I’ve had to strictly use the web version on my laptop because on my phone it makes me use about three different types of login methods every. single. use. It’s the exact same for the myLearners app too. Online bank apps don’t even use this much security.
