Nearly impossible to login with email address

I subscribe to the magazine and am supposed to have digital access too. But this app won’t allow me to log in to read daily stories. Fix this or lose a subscriber.

Some big functionality issues

The app description says $10.99 annually, but in the app it’s $34.99

Sign in is also broken for me, and emailing the support address given sends an auto reply that tells me I emailed the wrong address, although they address they tell me to email is the one I emailed

App will not let me log in

I am a subscriber and have tried multiple times to log in and it has failed EVERY time. I have tried contacting support and get no help. Fix this or give me my money back.

Great content

Have enjoyed reading National Review for years. I thought that the app would enhance my experience. Prefer the website.

Awesome News

The Best place to get fact based news.

Headlines

I love the content, but the headlines are formatted so that you can only see the first few words and often you don’t really know what the article is about. That’s the only reason I gave it three stars instead of five.

Superb application

It’s easy to navigate. Articles are categorized well and easy to find. The journalism is thorough and accurate.

Terrible

This app is terrible! When I click on “open’ I get “subscription help” but none of the options allows me to renew my subscription. If I opt out of “subscription help” I am redirected to “open” where I can only open to subscription help where I can’t get help with my subscription!

Informative & Honest

Really good writing. I appreciate the honesty and well written reporting and opinions.

Reborn: the premier politics and culture magazine

The New Republic once was read by most serious intellectuals. Then it was bought, hijacked, and all but left for dead. Miraculously it has been revived - every issue is informative, even essential reading.

Requires marketing data

You can only use the app if you agree to allow your data to be used for marketing with 3rd parties. I’m a paying subscriber, I shouldn’t have to do that. For now I will continue to read the publication with a throwaway email in a browser that blocks cookies.

Thought provoking …

Thought provoking. Not chopped liver. Not a pork chop, either.

An essential publication

The New Republic consistently delivers thoughtful and detailed reporting on critical issues. I rely on them for accuracy.

My first article made me decide to cancel

The first article of the New Republic that I read was by Lee Dutrick and was as negative as the republicans are.

I am Canadian and from what I witness President Biden was an incredible president and has done so much for your country. Many up here felt that way. He is a politician who gives me hope.

All the people who referred to his disastrous debate have obviously never had an off day. And never had a felon, rapist, liar as their debating partner. Meanwhile I understand that Joe Biden was at the same time navigating and expertly negotiating a hostage release.

I may have gotten Lee’s surname wrong. His article has so put me off that I am going to cancel and continue the uplifting and informative Substack and the Medias podcast where challenging issues can be brought forward knowing that there are things to do to create a kinder and fairer world.

Great read

Just put the app in my phone I am very pleased with their reporting.

Best Journalism Ever

Outstanding journalism. Very well written concise and in depth research.

A must read

Good reporting!!

What can I say

I wish I had time to rad new republic cover to cover ..well it takes me longer just type out a message this electronic invasion than it does to read an article in the NR.
And still not enough time
And not enough room To store all the old books and magazines I want to keep as references, reread or finish. My grandparents had room to keep all the old telephones, victrolas saddles, spoons… their attic and barn hold a 250 year history

Content? 5 Stars. App Functionality? 1 Star

Could some competent person fix the technical stupidities of the mobile app over there at New Republic Tower?

When I’m reading an article, _I prefer to keep reading the article_ instead of having the app reload, forcing me to search for what and where I was reading. Not every frickin’ update calls for an app reload. Also, I _read_ a magazine so I’d prefer not to see displayed a video option at all, whether I want it or not.

Also, maybe TNR needs the revenue from all the crappy ads, but do the ads need to disrupt the functionality of the site by causing (you guessed it) gratuitous reloads?

I speak as an online subscriber to TNR, and as someone whose phone has more than half of its storage/memory free for applications to work.

Short and Sweet

I am new to The New Republic. I regularly read other politically focussed magazines whose articles go on and on far beyond what’s necessary to make their point. Thus far, the articles I have read in The New Republic are thoughtful, informative and mercifully short. THANK YOU.
