Needs Update

Good basic information, but needs to be updated. (The Whitney moved from Madison Avenue some time ago!)

Great idea, could use an update

Whitney has moved, 5 Pointz is gone to name just 2

Incorrect information

The app says the Whitney is closed on Mondays. It's not. How useless can you get?

I deleted it.

New York Museum Guide

This is a great application designed for those seeking out museums of all kinds. The app categorizes the museums by content so users can search by what they are interested in. The app displays art, history, culture, science and kids museums. Each museum provides a brief description of its history and purpose as well as its operation hours, price of admission and its location. At the bottom of each museum page there also is a map with a pin on the museum's location so if you need directions it is only a click away. For those unfamiliar or a bit more curious about a museum the top menu of each page has a Wikipedia link and an official site link. For those who are using an iPhone and want to quickly connect with the museum there is a phone call icon as well. Each page also allows you to bookmark the museum.
The design of the application itself is sleek, modernistic with a colorful and easy to navigate interface. This app is highly recommended for those seeking culture in the state.

WAY OUT OF DATE

Be careful. I almost scheduled a trip to an exhibit that's been closed for months.

Meh

Last item in list not visible. Bottom menu blocking access

Great app but needs update

This is a great app but it hasn't been updated in 2 years. Can it be updated please?

Disappointing

Missing the outer borough.
Not mentioned on this app:
Bronx Zoo
New York Botanical Garden and Library
Bronx County Historical Society/Valentine-Varian House
Wave Hill and the Glyndor Gallery
City Island Nautical Museum
Andrew Freedman Home
Van Cortlandt House Museum
Barlow-Pell Mansion Museum
Derfner Judaica Museum

Lacking sharing features

Can't see a way to save info out of the app about a place you want to go. No link sharing, no messaging, no emailing, no launching maps, no tapping on something to create a calendar event or reminder. If you see something, looks like you need to copy the info out in longhand to get it out of the app, dramatically lowering the usefulness of it being digital, hard to tell other people about something interesting or get it on a list of places you want to go with relevant info.

Needs an update badly

Great LIST of museums. But very out of date so it's pretty useless. The design is wonderful and easy to use so if it was updated it would be awesome I'm sure. But that's all it really is. A list of museums with an option to favorite them. For example the Harry Potter Exhibit is listed as a museum. It hasn't been at Discovery Times Square in like a year.

Missing Jackie Robinson Museum

The Jackie Robinson museum is located at Varick and Canal in lower Manhattan.

A phone book...

For a museum app, this is basic and ugly. All of this info is one google search away. What I thought it would have had was a list of current shows...but it doesn't.

Powered by ArtCloud??? Could not be more basic.....

Excellent travel app

One of the singularly successful apps for tourist and visitor information about attractions. i especially like the display on the map of new York of museums and the ability to expand the description of the museum and operating hours. last weekend, we went in for some casual museum visits and it was indispensable. This contrast to so many other apps, sometimes for significant money, that only provide basic pictures and descriptions of attractions.

Great app thanks

Fantastic

It was better before

I liked the version before this one. I liked that I could see all museums whose hours were currently open on one page. Now with the slick new version, I'm going to have to go page-by-page to each museum to see which one is open. It's now less convenient than the previous version

Great update!

The app took a whole haul-over. I've been able to favorite some museums. The organization feels simpler, and the app itself feels generally easier to use.

Thanks for the update!

1.2 is awesome!

This version is awesome!!!

Pretty awesome

Extremely helpful app with the deficits noted by other reviewers such as absence of the Guggenheim and some possible inaccuracies in the hours. For those using iPad Mini you may have to turn it into landscape mode in order to see the sidebar menu.

Good idea bad link checking

I was checking the links ,admission prices and hours on the museums listed on this app. One glaring problem was the Whitney museums listing. First the admission prices appeared to be wrong and then the website link went to a fake site supposedly setup by The Occupy movement that mocks the Whitney's corporate sponsors and has fake news releases. Not cool , the app developers really should have checked the links. I'm wondering what else is inaccurate.

Great start

It would be great to be able to sort museums by their distance to a certain location, maybe filtering by what is open right now or by price. It would also be great to indicate, on each museum's page, the prices, any free days, and the nearest subway stations. That said, it's great to have this organized resource. It probably isn't ideal for international tourists without data plans, however, since currently you have to access google maps, wikipedia, or the museum's own site even to get basic information.
