Waste of time app now
What’s the point of having a news app, when once you have read 7 articles per month you are locked out and have to pay £4.99 to read any more.
Unable to subscribe
Tried for weeks to subscribe for premium acccess at the £1 offer. Unable to complete because the app won’t redirect me to my bank. I know this because the message simultaneously comes from my bank that it is the fault of the chronicle site.
Cash Grab
After years of using this I’m now off to BBC.
You get limited access per week (7 clicked articles) and there’s also premium articles…both accessible for a monthly fee.
It’s frustrating and I hope this is the start of a doom spiral trying to cash grab, feels like a very poor business decision.

Downhill
This app went rapidly downhill. Definitely won’t be paying subscription. Used to be good app
Bring back the old chronicle
I used to use this app daily for local news, now they require a monthly subscription to read 95% of the articles.
Not worth the paper its not written on!
Shocking app. The chronicle used to be the go to place for local news but no more. Many articles are national not local and now no longer able to read the majority of news as its behind a paywall Will be out of business by Christmas unless they do something fast as noone in their right mind would pay! RIP

No longer a local paper
The chronicle used to be where we got all our local news. However, now it seems to only regurgitate old news and the views and opinions of other papers and others who have no links or knowledge of the Newcastle area. Also want you to pay for their drivel. I just despair for the future.

Latest update now seems to limit readers to 10 articles unless a premium subscription is taken out.

This app was excellent but now you cannot read anything unless you pay £5 per month, i suppose this is one way that you can go about loosing thousands of evening chronicle readers

Dreadful journalism
If you want a daily reminder of the decline of educational standards in England try using this app for your local NE news. Each piece seems to be written without regard for the rules of grammar, punctuation or spelling. The headlines are a particular joy, often leaving one scratching one’s head wondering what actually happened. Succinct and informative they are not.

Journalists??
High school journalism at best. Every article has spelling mistakes, typo’s & awful grammar.
Journalists are supposed to have an excellent grasp of the English language. Chronicle staff must have skipped a lot of school.

Irritating NUFC blogs
I like the content of the Chronicle App particularly the coverage of NUFC. Yeh main irritation is the the live NUFC blog always resets to the bottom of the page and you have to scroll to the top of it whenever you want to read the latest news. Surely this would be an easy fix.
When Will They Get It Right?
No matter how many times this app is updated they never seem to fix the constant page refreshing bug that constantly happens when scrolling down a page.

All the photos & pics seem to have been replaced with chronicle logo except football players ???

Creepy app
Tries to force you into waiving a lot of privacy protection, notable that signing up with Apple ID is (deliberately?) nobbled. The Chronic website is an absolute car crash but with strong adblocking it’s a better bet than this creepy app.
Not fit for purpose
This Newcastle Chronicle Live app is clearly not fit for purpose, continually locking, articles freezing and jumping, stories unable to load. It used to be good, now this service is a joke considering the cost which incidentally is supposed to eliminate adverts but doesn’t, it’s now time for the Chronicle administrators to get something done about itas in its current firm is a complete waste of time.
