Review of Five Years on Ninox
I am a personal user of Ninox, not a business and I only use it at its most basic level. But as a database it has been a real boon to organise and record my hobbies, holidays and interests. Essentially a diary of important events in my life. I wish to thank the team at Ninox and since there is no subscription I wanted to let them know what a great service they provide to any private individual who likes to organise their life with dates, descriptions and photographs. Many thanks Peter

Recent problems
I have been using this for 10+ years now and have my team using it. Just over the last few days the app on my iPad is locking me out and the web version works but is very slow to upload images. Never had this problem before but it is a critical error as we are working as a team at a major trade exhibition and its failure is wasting time and money.

Spectacular! Most powerful, relational DB available on iPad wo/expensive subscription fees
I dropped my rating from May 2025 by two stars due to degradation of performance in newest Ninox Versions. I am strictly a native app user on my Mac, iPad, & iPhone and using iCloud to sync between them. I’m also on latest iOS/iPadOS.
A year ago, opening Ninox was nearly instantaneous, allowing access to my database list, then nearly instantaneous opening any of my databases using a single click. Database manipulation once in your DB was snappy!
That’s all changed! Getting to my database list now takes nearly a minute, regardless of whether you are opening Ninox or closing one database to get to a different one. That’s like a couple of centuries of CPU time on an app that is not dependent on a WiFi connection to a server. Then after getting to my database list, opening a database often takes nearly another half a minute! I’ve asked Support to comment on this severe degradation in performance days ago and not received any explanation. Given Ninox’s blazing speed in the past and current poor performance, I’m being generous in giving the app 3/5. If you’ve the patience to wait, Ninox still works effectively, although slower. Hoping for some updates that restore Ninox’s past performance!

Stunningly awkward & not completely reliable
Tiny and confusing controls make it all but impossible to use on a phone. Somewhat erratic as well. Syncs don’t always work and last night it would not log into my account.
Could do with CAPS and DARK MODE
Could do with a CAPS LOCK format for “fields”, and a dark mode so it’s easier on the eye
