About

Nitro is a private messenger built on a simple promise: the server cannot read your messages. Content is end-to-end encrypted with a post-quantum hybrid ratchet, so your conversations stay yours — even against tomorrow's computers. WHY NITRO • End-to-end encrypted messages, calls and media — keys live only on your device. • Post-quantum hybrid encryption, not just classic crypto. • The server is a "dumb carrier": it routes opaque, encrypted envelopes and never sees content. • No ads. No trackers. No third-party analytics. Your address book is never uploaded. • Your identity is a @username — your phone number is never shown to anyone. FEATURES • 1:1 chat with delivery receipts. • Photo sharing — images are encrypted on-device before they ever leave. • Voice & video calls with the native call experience (CallKit). • Group chats. • On-device, encrypted history — losing the server never loses your messages. • App lock with Face ID. PRIVACY YOU CAN VERIFY Every chat shows an encryption indicator, and you can confirm a contact face-to-face with a safety number. Delete your account anytime from Settings — your identity and history are wiped from the device. Nitro is single-device by design: no desktop or multi-device surface to attack.

What's New in Nitro Messenger

1.2.1

July 13, 2026

What's new in 1.2.1: Calls, upgraded: • Callers now see "Ringing…" the moment your contact's phone rings • Busy and declined calls are finally honest — no more guessing why a call ended • Minimize a call and keep using the app; a floating bar brings you back • The screen turns off against your ear during voice calls • Mute from the lock screen or CarPlay now actually mutes • Clearer call history: repeat calls group together, timers show hours Chat, steadier: • No more jumps — reading old messages is never yanked to the bottom • A jump-to-latest button with a new-message counter • Photos keep their exact size while loading — no more shifting bubbles • Read receipts update live while the chat is open • Reply by swiping a message; date headers keep long chats organized Notifications, finally like they should be: • See the sender and the message itself (decrypted only on your device — you can turn previews off) • Reply and mark-as-read straight from the notification • Tapping a notification opens the right conversation • Grouped neatly per chat, no more duplicate banners Sharper media: • Crisper photo and video previews in chat • Voice notes show a real waveform — drag to seek, play at 1.5x or 2x • Media you've opened once now opens instantly, even offline Every message, call, and file stays end-to-end encrypted with post-quantum cryptography.
