Noritz Connect User Reviews

Avoid!

This has got to be one of the worst apps and products I’ve ever used. The app takes a minimum of 15 seconds to connect to the water heater before you can do anything. I ended up installing a button to start my recirculating pump. Way cheaper and less headaches.

Do yourself a big favor and avoid the inflated cost of their WiFi adapter and terrible app.

Waste

App keeps giving a JSon error < and won’t allow me to login using my normal login, apple sign in or reset my password. How can u use it if u can’t get past login?

Please read before buying NAW-1

Save yourself $300. Whatever you think this will do for you, it probably doesn’t. I thought it would simplify having to use the controller and increase the user interface. All wrong. It can only turn off the heater and change temperature. You still have to use the weird coded controller and watch the you tube videos.

They say it gives you scheduling power and an on demand button in version 2.2. None of this is true. If it is true, information on how to do so is impossible to find.

Noritz, stop being weird and just let us control and change settings on the water heater from our phone. I should have headed the warnings of others and not bought the adapter.

Clunky and totally not smart

This app is so inadequate compared to where smart home technologies are today. Very clunky to just set a basic recirculating timer, numerous steps and latency, and frequently gives errors. To switch modes on the app requires to open up the heater (I kid you not) and program the controller using some complex sequence of hex codes. I cannot believe they did not spend a little more money on development.

There is a serious glitch since 10 months ago and it is not fixed yet

The app in general is pretty bad, the process of connecting it to the wireless module is painful because it is hard to put the module in the mode where it opens a wifi, and that state doesn’t last long. When you go through the app to the settings it doesn’t send you to the WLAN selection menu, instead to the Noritz app one. Once you connect, back in the app, when you have to select your home’s wifi, it only shows a small sets of the available ones and you cannot refresh, so if your wifi doesn’t appear at first, you are doomed to re-start the whole process from scratch. Finally and most importantly, once you manage to set it up, if you want to set a schedule for recirculation, bad luck, the app only works for AM hours and 1PM to 2PM. Any time later than that in the PM, magically converts from 3PM to 300.00AM, which fails to save for obvious reasons.
I called to Noritz customer support and they try to help, and they are aware of the glitch in the app, but don’t know about any plans to fix it any time soon. So, terrible application, now I am stuck with manually activating recirculation 5 minutes before I take a shower, instead of having a schedule set up that matches my routines.

Very slow and delayed

Thank you for finally adding scheduled recirc functionality to the controller and application.

When the app is launched it always has to login and then takes 30 seconds to connect. This polling window seems to be very long with today’s scalable cloud models.

Can this be improved?

Thanks for your feedback. Like all apps we are constantly trying updating and adding features. We invite you to update the app and try out the latest manual schedule mode where you can set your own desired schedule. We plan on adding more features in the future. Thanks

Works as intended

Works great. The recent update added the wireless control option.

Does work

Tried everything doesn’t work. Maybe the new version will work better. App stops at joining network. Indicates it is in network, but router does not show ip grab. App needs a completely manual bypass .

Not worth the extra cost $$$

The app connection is slow but once it works there are significant notable features that are missing.

1) no ability to setup an alert or app notification on the mobile device for major error codes.

2) No ability to setup a notification for important maintenance items like scheduled regular maintenance. Or regular descaling.

3) no ability to override the self-learning recirculating schedule and program a manual start or to program a desired schedule in the app as an alternative.

4) app does not show as much error detail and various error codes that are available on the control panel. For those with panels next to the heater in difficult to reach locations the app was supposed to provide the remote access. But it doesn’t get MANY of the elements 01-07 and 91-96 that the technician was requesting for troubleshooting. The app and online connection should be able to have all these metrics for the heater.

Fails to download status data

Fails to download status data on iOS and android. No troubleshooting tips. Temperature setting works.

Missing key features and simply does not work

It was difficult connecting new device. It cannot control recirculating pump, and it simply doesn’t work. Going to any screen and it will ask you to wait for up to 30 seconds and never actually load.

A lame attempt at what could be really useful

I bought the top of the line Noritz tankless recirculating hot water heater, in part because this app had me believe they were delivering leading technology. This app hasn’t been updated for years and all you can actually do with it is adjust temperature and turn the unit off or on. My unit’s recirculating pump cycles on and off just about every minute 24/7, and the only way to stop it from the app is to turn it off, which then means no hot water.

You can change a setting using an obscure setting on the wired controller, to turn off the recirculating pump. That feature should be in the app. The app also should let you build a schedule for the recirculating pump, or have it run for x hours only after sensing hot water usage.

I hope they pull some budget together to upgrade this app.

Thanks for your feedback. We invite you to update to version 2.2 of the app where you can now schedule the recirculating pump to your desired schedule. You'll need to change the heater to ALWAYS OFF mode and then you'll be able to fully schedule from the app.

Horrible registration process

App failure at almost every level. This app would not scan a QR code on the new heater even after asking for it, then would not accept and record manually entered personal and commercial installer info. Incomplete data? Please. It is useless to ask for data in all “required” fields when the requirement asterisk is displayed in pale gray against a white background. The only thing this app managed to do was let me create a login to a new account in which I was prevented from registering the installed unit that is already heating my water.

IPhone 8+ running iOS 14, in case anyone at Noritz wants to try to kill some bugs or add back capabilities that seem to have been there previously.

Fairly good stable app

I installed two of these Noritz Connect for my two Noritz water heaters 6 months ago. Setup is easy. WiFi connectivity, controls and monitoring and results are stable.
Was not be able to add two water heaters in the app. I had to use two different water heaters logins user ids to access each water heater. It was reported as a bug and hope it has been fixed.
It will be nice to have documentation or help or explanation of each item in app on what all the items represent such as burn in time, ignition time, average gas used etc. and how often the aggregation is done.
Usage data is basic and could be improved.
Total gas used and average gas used seem to be same.
Overall, controlling temperature is easy.

Not all there yet.

App works fine but still needs some fine tuning. Can we at least have an option of choosing metric over imperial for those of us in Canada. You can only adjust the temperature from the app from 100 to 120 deg F and that’s about all you can. The rest of the information you get is burn time, ignition time and the status of your tank. You can’t adjust when last you descaled the system unless it self detects that and am yet to find out cos I haven’t done that yet. I can only hope it gets better with updates.

Decent as a start, still hoping for more.

Would be nice to see the ability to customize things a bit more, like changing from Fahrenheit to Celsius. Also would be nice see more than a weeks history of usage. Also some of the stats seem suspect, such as “plug in” and “burn time” moving in lockstep, when clearly the unit is not burning 100% of the time.

Hoping thing will improve with time!
