Oh dear

Now you’ve put AI in the title, I don’t want it any more.

Used to be a solid app

I’ve used notability for many years. Ever since they shifted to their own “cloud” the app has become irritatingly glitchy, but when you love something you stick with it and hope the glitches will eventually be fixed. Up until a few months ago I had hundreds of notes in notability. As of today I have less than 20 and I will be exporting those this weekend. Yesterday a hundred page note just up and disappeared. Not in recently deleted, not in any backup, not available on any other device that I connect to notability with. Just like it never existed. “Fin”, the AI support might be helpful if it asked for relevant info before leading one down a multi-email rabbit hole. By email #5 it was repeating itself and giving nonsensical suggestions. Used to be a fantastic product, but I’ll be abandoning this weekend for good and sharing my experiences with clients and others I know who value their data.

Change ugly icon

For heaven’s sake please change this awfully ugly icon or at least allow users to change it as option. I would like to purchase subscription for this but seeing this ugly icon on my screen is a deeply repulsive idea to me. Please, please, please.

Love Notability, but I’d Love More Detailed Smart Notes and Interactive Study Features! 🤩😕

I absolutely love Notability and appreciate how helpful it is for recording lectures and creating Smart Notes. However, I’ve noticed that after a lecture recording finishes, some important details in my notes seem to be cut off or summarized too briefly. This is especially problematic when studying medical and diagnostic material, such as symptoms, clinical presentations, and descriptions of images. Having incomplete information makes it difficult to review accurately and prepare for exams using flashcards and quizzes.

I’d love to see more complete, detailed Smart Notes that preserve essential information from lectures, along with an option to customize the level of detail.

I’d also love more gamified review features to make studying engaging for students with ADHD, as well as audio playback for quiz and flashcard questions and answers, similar to Quizlet. This would be incredibly helpful for auditory learners and students who benefit from hearing information read aloud.

Notability has so much potential, and these improvements would make it an even more powerful and accessible study tool for students! ❤️

Update bugs

Notes not syncing after the change to Notability’s own cloud storage

Many years of use for almost everything

I would not be able to get high grades in medicine without using Notability. I now use it for work.

GRATEFUL

THANK YOU

Forcing Notability Cloud

Paying customers are not getting recent updates with new features because Notability is trying to force everyone to use Notability Cloud. I am satisfied using iCloud for my backup/ sync. I don’t want to use Notability Cloud. The developer has refused to listen to the customers. Notability has been a good app for me and I love using it, but I will not be renewing my subscription. It’s of no value if I am not getting all the new features. I am already testing other options and will be making a switch once my subscription ends.

Good note app that locks you out of your notes

I’ve used notability for years and purchased when they offered it outright sale. Since they’ve moved to a subscription model they’ve made it harder and harder for people who purchased the original subscription to access and use the app properly. Now I’m totally locked out and am unable to access the app and all my notes with it. It’s just theft really.

Paywall App

I only used this to take notes for about 3 days, and today I open it up to find out that I “reached my note limit”. Mind you, I’m only here because my university is having server issues so I can’t access OneNote. I’ll keep looking for another note-taking app that doesn’t try to deceive its users!

Subscriptions find a way to ruin customer experience.

When I downloaded this app, I don’t remember there being a limit on how many notes you take, now there’s a subscription…..there’s a one time of course but it seemingly gets harder as a student afford simple note taking apps :/

Deleted all my folders

All my folders sorting my 800 note pages just gone for no reason, and no way to reverse it. well at least my notes are here, but would need hours to sort them all out.

Heed this warning

Terrible app that will actively interfere with your workflow. Terrible editorial control and will actively rearrange your figures and notes about your text as you export or move platforms for the same document. Do not spend your money here on this ai addled slop. I’m reasonably certain some of the other reviews are botted as well.

Unstable

Ever since Golden Gate update, Notability has been unstable such as sync stopping, the app just freezing, and most of the time not resolving ending up crashing or just forcing me.to use task manager to force quit the app. Sometimes, even after force quitting, waiting 1-10 minutes, the app launches back in “frozen” mode.

Awesome

Makes notes very easy

Student Honest review

Once I started school I had a couple of classmates tell me about this app. I was really excited to try it and decided to do the 14.99 a year purchase. HONESTLY it was not worth it. This app has a lot of errors. It sometimes only translates in Spanish. Or does not record the lecture or does not let you highlight or add notes to the power points. Most of the time I’m having to close down the app and reopen it at least 4 times a day. So much that you end up giving up and relying on your regular dowloaded PowerPoint. I do not mean to be negative but if you’re a student like me which does not have a lot of income coming in, this becomes a blow of money and more stress added to your lecture if you are trying to be efficient.

Ok

It’s Nice but not really free

Terrible App

The app has many issues! Mainly the developers! Constantly changing and “Upgrading” adds glitches. I’ve been using it for several years now and have over a 1000 notes, which I am unable to access coz they still downloading? From where? All the notes are supposed to be saved on my device! WTF!!! Where are my notes? I wish I could just export everything and use other Apps! This one Is BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Incompatible with iOS17

Would be good to maintain legacy functionality

Why does it keep getting worse by every update

Every update somehow makes the app more laggy and unusable. The new haptic sensation when moving notes with the selection tool is completely unnecessary and annoying.

And now I can’t even edit or rearrange my notes without the whole thing lagging and getting messed up. It takes nearly a full minute just to add a page between my notes. The app lags like hell and makes my iPad extremely hot (the ONLY app that does this to my iPad) And no, it’s not a storage issue. I have plenty of storage. It’s the app.

I genuinely don’t understand how an app that used to work perfectly keeps getting worse with every update.
