My information library
This app is the greatest. I have tons of information that was scattered everywhere until I downloaded this app. I use version 8, which is the free version. I have set up folders and sub folders where I track maintenance on my vehicles, when I replace tires, batteries and etc. I have files with part numbers for my appliances, lawnmowers and etc. I think you get the idea. Then I started worrying about losing all my files if the app crashed or something. I back it up using drop box to my iPad. I hope this app never goes away. It is the best.

A hidden gem
Every so often we stumble across an app where say to ourselves, “Why have I not heard of this application before?”
I cannot answer that but look at the number of reviews and overall rating for this gem.
It’s as customizable as you would want, and perfect for simply documenting notes and nesting them in folders…up to writing an entire book, delineating it chapter by chapter. Absolutely perfect. If yuh like to “write” this is your app.

Protected Items
My favorite part about Notebooks is the protected items, when I am writing plans or a diary I can keep it from other people. Thank you for adding this feature.
Very disappointing UPDATE: they helped
Edited and Updated: It's a wonderful concept that's beautifully constructed except for the fact that you can't switch between apps without having to exit the entire document and reopen it. What????? Seriously? Let me paint you a visual: I'm trying to take notes from a picture I'm looking at. I want to make sure I use the correct wording. I am switching between the app and my internet browser on my phone to see what I want to type out. When I go back into notebooks, I can't edit the text anymore. It acts like I decided I'M ALL DONE NOW! So I have to exit the document. Reopen it from scratch. Now I can type again. This is just plain dumb and for someone who doesn't have the greatest memory it became really tedious to reopen and close and reopen and close and reopen and close. I probably did it between 7 and 9 times just to get the sentence I needed. I love this app but I am almost tempted to stop using it solely because it creates more work than necessary for me. Other apps will allow me to do this with no hassle whatsoever. Do better notebooks. Update: THEY CONTACTED ME AND THEY DID BETTER! 😂 there is a newer version

Thank you for your feedback. - As you probably know, this version of Notebooks is based on "Notebooks 8", which we offer for free, but we don't (actually we cannot) update it any more. The actively maintained version of Notebooks is at v12, and when you say "do better, Notebooks", please allow me to refer you to that latest version, which does better, in almost all areas ;-)

The ‘Sharing’ features are outdated. Like iTunes sharing! Needs to support Apple Files! Seriously! Needs standard Share features. Otherwise very good. Only 4-stars for for now, for the outdated sharing features.

The free version of Notebooks is based on Notebooks 8. For all the latest features and updates, please take a look at our paid version of Notebooks, which is currently v12 with iCloud support, new share features etc.
I love this app
The best thing I like the most is the ability to sync everything across multiple devices using Dropbox. Keep up the good work..
I am going to cry
I have used this app for years and have written over 50,000 words on it and man I have never been this upset. I’ve recent gotten acquainted with the password feature, which is pretty useful honestly and no complaints here. I did come across a problem where my Face ID was inactive for a period of time and I had completely forgotten my password. Which is absolutely a me-problem but it was absolutely devastating when I was unable to access any of my works. So, naturally I checked the website and troubleshooting to see if there was any way to fix this. There was not. So, I tried to see if deleting the app would give me an opportunity to reset the code(I update most of my works on other things just to be safe), it did, but at the loss of all of my works. Overall a great app, I am still a bit worked up though and would definitely appreciate it if there was any sort of recovery for the password, but that is just my two-cents.

Thank you for your feedback.I am sorry to hear that the passcode protection caused troubles ... but making documents inaccessible is the purpose of protection. If you had emailed us before you deleted the app, we could have helped you recover your passcode. If you have a backup of your documents (Dropbox, on in an iTunes/Finder backup) we could still help...

Only one star to open communications
I recently set up sync to Dropbox and I've lost over half of what I've written. This is a LOT of writing. Dropbox shows the same loss now.
I've searched for a contact but haven't found one. Hoping the developer will respond so that I might be able to get my writing back.

Really great
I've been using Notebooks for 6+ years and have loved it since the first time I purchased and used it. It's exactly what I need. I love the way it doesn't try to do everything but do nothing well. It does very well what it does. And it does exactly what I need. It's a really great app. Very few bugs get in the way. The IU is sumple and intuitive. The developer has always been responsive to emails. I've emailed several times in 6 years and always gotten a response within a day or two. And no lame responses yet! I give it a solid A.

I DO review stuff all the time. Sorry, just sick of seeing the "𝙞 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙪𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙨, 𝙗𝙪𝙩..." line at the beginning of 90% of the reviews on app store.
This is the best free note app I have found, and there's a MAJOR over saturation of note apps. I'm assuming they are one of the easier things to program, so every dev thinks they should make one. But the devs here really did a good job. Flexible, fast and many customization options. Just good flow overall, and pretty UI. No ads. This is the one you want, you can finally stop the hunt.

I’m using Notebooks to plan my projects since it supports indentation, strikethrough, and organization using folders. It’s been incredibly helpful.
It does have one minor, if annoying, bug where the document you’re editing locks of you switch to another app and then switch back. You can no longer edit the document without first closing it (viewing the parent folder) and then reopening the document. I’m hoping to see that fixed soon, though! 😁 🤞
Fixing that and adding functional checkboxes would upgrade Notebooks from fantastic to phenomenal.

One Thing Missing…
The app is great but I think adding a widget feature would make it perfect.
Best app for detailed note takers.
I use to carry a small 3x5 notebook with a pen attached to jot notes down constantly throughout the day, at work and at home, to help me remember and stay organized. This app’s name is so apropos because it has totally replaced my paper notebook, with the ability to search and easily re-organize any of my notes!! Thank you Mr. Alfons!!

Slight issue
So I love that I can use this app for notes and taking notes in different aspects of my life.
Issues with leaving the app(not closing) and going back and if I was in the middle of writing a note, I have to close the app completely to go back to typing in that note.

Exactly What I Was Looking For!
Hi, small start-up writer here. I was looking for an app that I could make documents on, one that could keep everything organized. Let me tell you, I tried so many apps, but Notebooks definitely took the cake.
I haven’t tried any of their other features, other than the documents one, but it is AMAZING. 10/10 would recommend!
