I have been in the UK for almost a year, and this was the first time I forgot to carry my student ID. Despite it being an honest mistake, I was immediately charged £60.
£60 is equivalent to around six hours of work for me. Now, because of one genuine mistake, a significant part of my earnings is gone. I understand that rules are important and must be followed, but there should be some consideration for genuine first-time cases.
A warning or an option to show valid ID later would have been much more reasonable. Charging a student £60 for forgetting an ID for the first time feels extremely harsh. This experience was very disappointing, and I hope the policy is revised to be fairer for students.
