Bug

Last version is buggy. Under certain circumstances, I can no longer enter requests in the Case Manager. I type, but no letters appear.

AI Slop app.

All this information is free on grok or chat. Or even better A BOOK

Do not recommend

ChatGPT and Claude outperform this app constantly! Every time I use this app, I see this. I’ll tell the app, “What about this?” and it will basically say, “Oh yeah, you should definitely do that too!” Then I say, “So why didn’t you tell me that important point in your initial response?” And it just apologizes for its error of omission. The idea of renewing my subscription for this app is ridiculous!

Response from developer

Thanks for taking the time to share this, feedback like this is important for us. A quick clarification that may help: the Anesthesia Assistant App isn’t meant to function like a general AI chatbot. It’s built specifically for anesthesia practice, with a different purpose and structure. MAIA is trained on NYSORA’s expert-reviewed material rather than open internet data, with the goal of providing structured, clinically relevant guidance. That said, you’re absolutely right about one thing: consistency and clarity matter, especially in clinical recommendations. We’re actively improving how responses are delivered and refined over time. Appreciate you calling this out.

No plans to keep this app

ChatGPT does better. The Anesthesia Assistant is wishy washy. Today it recommended dopamine for a situation I had. When I questioned that advice, it 100% changed its mind and said “Avoid dopamine.” Meanwhile, ChatGPT gave me a much better answer. And when I fed that answer into this app, it replied with, “This is a high-level approach that is recommended.” It’s done this enough times that I generally don’t even want to use the app. Hopefully they can figure things out and improve it over time, but as it stands, I’m not really impressed at all.

Second Review

I have paid for this app and I use it almost everyday. It is a tool, not a tool that you can look for exact doses of infant spinal bupivacaine doses. It will give you a range. If you want a specific dose, tell it the weight of the infant and the concentration you plan to use for your spinal and the app will be more specific. As a provider, you have to figure out what you want. The more specific the question, the better the answer it gives.

App name less than ideal

Thousands of people are Certified Anesthesia Assistants in the USA or Certified Clinical Anesthesia Assistants in Canada. Calling this app the NYSORA Anesthesia Assistant is plainly disrespectful to these professionals. Vargo Anesthesia is a better app for most things, ANSO is a better app for regional. The crises portion of this app is missing neuro emergencies from SNACC but is otherwise comprehensive.

Thanks for taking the time to share this. We hear your concern about the name, and we respect the professionals you’re referring to. Our intention with the app has always been to support educational decision-making across anesthesia practice - nothing more, nothing less. The app focuses on fast, structured answers, practical tools, and real clinical value when it matters. We’re continuously improving it based on feedback like yours, including expanding content where it’s needed. Appreciate you pointing this out.

Great Tool

I love the is app, it’s a great additional tool. I use it everyday at work.

Useful tool

I have been using for a couple months now. Overall I think it’s great. The think when topics because very highly specialized, like infant spinal dosing, it may been harder for it to find that and may point you limitations and thus an area of improvement for the future. Overall, it is a tool, I never use only one source for anything but if I was going to, this would be a top choice for me. Keep it up, keep listening to the user feedback and I can’t wait to see this app only improve in the future.

Very Good App

This is a very good app for Anaesthetist in training and trainers as well. It gives a good account on anaesthetic topics and is easy to read.

Very useful!

This app uses AI built by people who get it. No fluff, just what you need, when you need it.

Nice App

Nice app. Only suggestion would be for Apple to rotate with iPad orientation changes

Smart assistant for anesthesia practice

I use this app regularly in practice, the dose calculator and case manager save time, and the protocols are clear, reliable, and always up to date.

Not assistive, of little value

I downloaded and attempted a simple question: Bupivacaine dose for infant spinal for circumcision. Twenty search results with wide ranging content, question not answered. The previous 38 glowing reviews clearly did not pay for this app. Does not function as advertised

Initial review

The reason I gave this 3 stars is because the writing is so small and one cannot use one’s hand to ‘spread” the screen to make it bigger. Maybe after I try to use it I’ll rate it higher based on content, but you really need to have your developer fix this to make it readable. This is sad because it looks to be a really good app and nysora is such a trusted name. ( I phone user)
