About
Your check engine light is on. Every free code reader that uses your adapter is a subscription or full of ads. OBD2 Ninja tells you what it means for your car, how urgent it is, and what to check first, and its yours to keep.
Plug a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter into the port under your dash, turn the key, and scan.
WHAT YOU GET FROM A SCAN
• Stored, pending and permanent codes the ones the car is still deciding about, and the ones that only clear after a verified repair.
• A straight answer on urgency. Every code is rated Fix now, Fix soon or Monitor, paired with a label and an icon so it reads correctly if you're colorblind. If a code can't be rated for your car, it says so instead of guessing.
• What to check, in order. A short checklist that starts with the cheap likely causes.
• Freeze frame data that shows the engine speed, load, coolant temperature and fuel trims captured at the exact moment the code stored.
• Readiness monitors. Whether the car will pass an emissions test, and which self-tests haven't finished yet.
LIVE DATA
Watch the sensors while the engine runs. Pick the ones you care about from nineteen parameters: RPM, coolant, fuel trims, MAF, timing advance, O2, boost, battery voltage and more. Values update continuously rather than ticking over once a second, and any parameter can be pinned for a rolling 60-second graph.
PROOF THE FIX WORKED
Every scan is kept, so you can show the code is gone after a repair. Clear codes and reset the light when you've actually fixed it — with a plain warning that the light returns in a few drive cycles if you haven't. You can share codes and their meaning to anyone via text or email!
BUILT TO BE HONEST
No fake progress bars the scan shows the real modes it's reading. No invented severities. No upsell to a subscription, no account to create, no ads. If your car doesn't report something, the app says so rather than showing a zero.
Works offline. Code definitions and the diagnostic write-ups are on your phone, so a scan in a parking lot with no signal works the same as one at home.
WHAT YOU NEED
A Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) OBD2 adapter no particular brand. Carista, FIXD, LELink, Vgate iCar Pro, UniCarScan and the common ELM327-compatible adapters all work.
Bluetooth 3.0 and "Classic" adapters do not work on iPhone Apple doesn't allow apps to talk to them. Neither do WiFi adapters. Check which kind you have before buying.
Works on any car sold in the US from 1996 onward, and most elsewhere from 2001.
OBD2 Ninja gives you guidance for someone with a socket set not a warranty repair order. Always confirm a fault yourself before replacing a part.
