Sorry for the Hateful Review

Literally just tired of subscription based music apps, wasn’t trying to be so hateful. Just really don’t like apps that revolve around subscription based for premium features, that don’t have a lifetime key, even Logic Pro for iPad is messed up for not having a Lifetime Key. It’s a very messed up era in the Music Production Industry.

Subscription Based is Financial R***

This subscription based era of digital goods is an absolute disgrace. An app like this should have a purchase option for a perpetual license, not a subscription service. I don’t care if it’s only $1.50 a month, paying a monthly fee for this mediocre garbage is insane. This just needs to be removed from the App Store. This is a scam and theft. Nah bro, if you’re not giving people a lifetime option, you are a crook. This subscription based only society is gonna be the downfall of all companies and creators. Just wait and see. You still have a chance to do the right thing and give people the option for a lifetime purchase. If you’re only gonna have a subscription based option, you are selfish and have no respect for the Joy of Music and the Art of Creation.

Response from developer

If you consider this app is not worth the subscription, nobody forces you to subscribe and use it. Thus, it is not a scam, neither a theft. Especially as it can be used without subscriptions, albeit with many advertisements and a limited number of available melodies. I don't see the reason for butthurt.

Pointless

Almost no songs! Only like about 60 or 50 songs and no legends of Zelda. The creators could’ve done something more productive than this. I’d rather watch YouTube videos than this.🤬🤮

Response from developer

I believe, it is actually 146 melodies, if you unlock all of them by subscribing. No Legends of Zelda songs, because copyrights - the app does not generate nowhere near the profits necessary to pay for rights to include notes of copyrighted melodies. Thus, it only includes free melodies from the public domain, otherwise it can't exist at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The (only) creator sure could have done something better than this, but that would require a lot more efforts, and involvement of additional people... again, at the moment the ends don't meet - the app does not generate (and does not seem to have a potential to generate) nowhere near the profits necessary to finance that, thus the creator dedicates most of his time for full time work on other, commercial projects, and does not have resources to pay for additional professionals necessary to make this app better. Negative reviews, complains about abundance of advertisements, locked melodies, and overall hesitation to subscribe for any, but perfect app also aren't helpful for advancing such small, niche projects ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Profiting off the public domain

The sheet music is all folk songs and mostly Irish jigs that are public domain. It paywalls songs in the public domain. Also, the sheet music is in the wrong key.

Response from developer

Right, this app presents songs and melodies from the public domain in the way that helps learning how to play them. The music in public domain may be free, but the labour of software engineer, and the butter on his bread, are not; thus subscription model in the app is required to make it financially feasible (as the matter of fact, so far revenues from this app do not cover the cost of efforts spend on it). The costs of printing rights, needed to include non-public-domain music into the app are, on the other hand, just prohibitive - to be financially feasible with non-public-domain music this app would need at least x100 times larger user-base and revenues. If you believe there is a problem with music key, please provide more details - if there is a bug, it sure can be fixed.

App wouldn’t even open

Too bad

Response from developer

Apparently, it does open for most users. If there was a glitch in a particular version, it probably has been fixed since, and just re-installing and re-starting the app probably would make it work.

Adverts

I don’t mind a banner advert but half the screen is too much, I’m less likely to subscribe if forced like that.

AMAZING
