Can’t register because I don’t have a sticker to scan
The app won’t let me sign up because I don’t have an Ocean Bottle™️ or a sticker to scan. Really inaccessible for an app whose goal is supposedly to save the ocean.
The app is fine, use NFC correctly, it’s tricky
The majority of the complaints appear to be due to folks inability to scan the bottle correctly. That’s not the app’s fault, nor the bottle. Yubikeys have the exact same issue. NFC is not a great technology, it requires utmost precision. You have to get the bottom of the bottle near the top of your phone screen - keep slowly rotating and get it right if it’s not scanning on first few attempts. It took about 5 tries and errors, but I was able to scan - I believe mine worked when the NFC logo was facing up near my front camera / just below it, which is probably what the chip is under.

My bottle scanned and registered easily. I do think it would be helpful if there were instructions for scanning it for registration when you open the app in your phone.
There aren’t really places around here for me to scan my bottle, so I just log mine. I started logging my home and work refills as multiples once a day, because it is painfully slow. Logging each time is frustrating.

Didn’t have registration issues, that’s not the problem. The issue is that this app is slow as all get out. In fact, it didn’t register a fill because it timed out and I lost my 60 day streak 😭
If ever this gets fixed, I’ll adjust my rating accordingly.
