Apple Shortcuts?
It would be cool if you could have an Apple Shortcut to refill so you didn’t have to open the app every time!
NFC not fit for purpose
I’m quite disappointed with the NFC feature. It scans, but then redirects to the website and subsequently the app, with nothing clearly indicating how to log refills. I’ve completed three refills so far and none have registered.
Unfortunately, the support email provided below also doesn’t appear to receive responses.
I do think more work is needed around customer service and making the process a true “tap and log” experience. Given the price point of the bottle, I expected the functionality to feel far more seamless and intuitive.
That said, the bottle itself is beautiful, and the concept behind it is genuinely excellent.
The app just needs further development to match the quality of the product.

Cool Way to Help Environment
Despite complaints about issues with scanning, I haven’t had any problems. Important to note there is also an option to tap within app to record refills. Love the color and ease of cleaning!!
Okay, but needs more polish
Yes you can track how many bottle you have refilled but the steps are a little counterintuitive.
I would suggest the main page being only your water bottle and place to scan and more info on water drank. New tab for community goals etc. shop tab is fine, I get that.
I would also recommend adding a widget to activate the NFC scanner faster. I have to open the app look for the little button and push “Scan to Refill”. I have seen on other reviews suggestions for a watch app for the NFC scanner.
I would rate higher if these things get added. Our whole company has these bottles now so we want to use them.

Rubbish app
You can download the app but that all it will do what’s the point
NFC scanning broken
I love the water bottle, but this app sucks hard. NFC scanning does NOT work. Scanning the bottle by NFC with your phone just opens a notification that prompts you to open Safari, which you click on and that then opens the app. Still nothing. Scan the NFC again, nothing. I even changed the setting logging type to “scanning the bottle”. The ONE reason I have this app is to scan the bottle. Why doesn’t it work? Also, how I can register for the 10-year warranty is impossible to figure out so I gave up. Went to the website, read the policy, downloaded the app, added my bottle, still nothing. It shouldn’t be this hard. I ended up emailing the company to ask them how to register. Someone at Ocean Bottle needs to figure out how to better communicate with users. I will have to setup my own iPhone shortcut to log water by NFC. Weird that I need a workaround when there is a whole app built for this purpose. Also, the app is mostly ads to buy and community goal stuff I don’t care about that comes back after I “x” them away. Zero charts just a total number drank. I will use Apple Health or an alternate app because this one has way too much clutter and none of the barebones tracking you would expect in a water tracking-by-NFC app. Ha!

tapping NFC just takes you to a website
App doesn't really seem to do much. If I tap the bottle, it just asks if I want to go to a website to download the app even though the app is already downloaded. The copy suggests it would have automatically logged a refill but it doesn't.
Great bottle, rubbish app
Just received my bottle, it’s excellent.
It comes with an app - what doesn’t? Bit of a gimmick - tap when you refill with water to save more plastic from the ocean. Why not?
Because the app is not worth the faff. Constantly (multiple times per minute) demands that notifications be switched on. Moreover, tapping the bottle’s NFC tag doesn’t log a refill. It takes you to a website which then takes you to the app on which you can then push a button to log a refill.
So tap your bottle, then accept you want to open a website, then tap to go to the App Store, then tap to confirm you want to open another app, then tap to indicate you have refilled your bottle (then tap three times to tell it that no, you still don’t want notifications).
Who has time for that? Great water bottle, but don’t waste your time with the app.

Inconvenient log refill actions
I cannot log refill automatically when I touch my iPhone with NFC chip of my bottle. I have to open the app and tag which is very very inconvenient and completely a waste of NFC purpose?
Good app...
To get plastic out of our oceans! Could do with a holiday mode, so you don't lose your streak for the amount of continuous days you've logged.
Keep up the good work Ocean Bottle!

Bring back the scanner
I was more motivated and it was more exciting to scan the bottle it’s the reason why I purchased this bottle in the first place. If people complained about the scanner, make scanning it optional. You can either tap or scan.
App
Love my drinking adds to the daily collection
Why can’t I Scan anymore?
Why remove the only reason I like using the app? Scanning my bottle to add to my streak kept me coming back to log my water, extend my streak, and help the planet at the same time. Now that I can’t actually scan the NFC in my bottle it’s removed a big part of the enjoyment of the app.
Removed USP
Removing NFC scanning in the latest update removes Ocean Bottle’s USP, takes all the fun out of it, and removes the need for the app at all. I’ll just use iOS shortcuts to use the NFC to log water. What a backwards step. Spend £38 per bottle for my family just to be rinsed of the best bits in the next app update. Shame on you

Bring back NFC
I loved tapping my bottle to refill, made it purposeful when I filled it from the fridge and not just a button tap which I can do through shortcuts? So why bother with the app now.
Dysfunctional app
Tried to register the bottle for warranty but the app is still loading. Please fix the issues.
Could be better
It would be much nicer if I didn’t have to open the app and tap to log water. The nfc tag still opens the website even with the app installed. Maybe this could be handled with a deep link? Or a Siri shortcut could make it a little less cumbersome
Its aight
It works… but it says my refill has been collecting for ages. Please fix this.
The bottle is pretty useless
I have to agree with the other reviews. It’s a great concept but as others mentioned after 10 days the app stops documenting your water intake. Seems pretty counterproductive if the whole point of the bottle is to document your intake. It has gotten me to drink way more water which is nice but I can do that with a regular water bottle. This bottle is pretty pointless and the fact that this glitch hasn’t been fixed after multiple reports speaks volumes about the company.

Pointless
I thought the app would help me find free refill stations but all it seems to want to do is track me and sell me more bottles.
