What's New in Octopus Watch

5.6.3

July 17, 2026

What's new in 5.6.3: • fix: workaround for incorrect times on Go EV What's new in 5.6.2: • fix: add workaround for Go EV, which is incorrectly registered in the Octopus Energy API What's new in 5.6.1: • new: internal rewrite of the Octopus Apple Watch app using some novel techniques. Background updates of rates should now be notably more consistent. What's new in 5.6.0: • new: updated UI for modern versions of iPadOS to better use all available screen space. What's new in 5.5.0 and 5.5.1: • fix: day details chart does not drop into text when rates are well below 0p • fix: scrolling up/down and left/right in day details when using bigger font sizes What's new in 5.4.2: • fix: energy reports were broken due to a bug in iOS 26.2 • new: added Octopus Snug as an unsupported tariff (same issues as Intelligent) What's new in 5.4.1: • fix: minor UI updates for iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 What's new in 5.4.0: • new: complete the transition to the new Nix 5 prediction engine • fix: update the legend on energy reports to correctly show the label for export rate What's new in 5.3.2: • fix: update 5.3.1 caused data to be loaded slowly on first login due to the extra checks. This is now resolved and data on first login loads again at the normal speed. What's new in 5.3.1: • new: The app can in many more cases get your data, even if the Octopus Energy API experiences issues. Octopus Energy uses two APIs. The app can now fall back on the second API when the first API becomes unavailable for some of its tasks. • fix: in some cases the app was unable to retrieve historic data after a while. This update introduces a fix to this problem. What's new in 5.3.0: • fix: re-enable long press on home mini card for energy tracking • fix: prevent rates chart from extending into the title (still going "off the charts") • new: date on carbon detail page • new: chart lock in day details for easy day-to-day comparison • new: custom home mini/live data split value for Agile users What's new in 5.2.0: • fix: comparison skipped a day due to DST bug • new: while travelling the app will continue to show UK time zone What's new in 5.1.4: • fix: up and down scrolling on the day details did not work in some areas of the screen What's new in 5.1.3: • new: optimised layout for iPadOS 18 What's new in 5.1.2: • new: add tinted icon variant for iOS 18 What's new in 5.1.1: • fix: correct unit on Home Mini live card (kW, not kWh) • fix: in some cases the wrong rate was used for some fixed/dumb tariffs What's new in 5.1.0: • new: (subscription) support for Home Mini. • fix: various optimisations. What's new in 5.0.6: • fix: predictions still, in some cases, disappeared at 4PM. More firm instructions have been passed along to stay in place. • fix/new: notifications are using a new backend, which again allows rate-specific notifications. • new: optimisations to how carbon data is retrieved. • new: more aggressive checks for new history data. 5.0.5: internal release What's new in 5.0.4: • fix: predictions could briefly disappear around 4PM, they are now kindly requested to stay where we can clearly see them What's new in 5.0.3: • new: improved support for onboarding tariffs that are often unique to one or a handful of Octopus Energy customers • new: internal optimisations to improve the code and performance What's new in 5.0.2: • new: see export in peak / off peak for Flux • new: (subscription) get weather data in CSV export Version 5 is a major update bringing a speedier app with some great new features: • new one-tap tariff comparison • new micro metrics to easily see trends in your data • (subscription) full year electricity data and energy reports • (subscription) tracker rate predictions And, of course, various other minor improvements throughout!

User reviews

Has stopped synching to watch

Great app but it has stopped synching to my watch, so not useful now as i have other apps that do similar for phone/ipad

Feedback on excellent app

This is by far one of the best apps I’ve ever used and I’ve been an IT all my life? I think the depths of understanding and effort to get as much useful data and information about real energy costs and usage to help the user to understand their energy costs and the best way to use them is tremendous. The extras for subscription far from essential are still worth it. I have one small suggestion though, I’m trying to reduce my notifications across the board and as subscriber I can have notifications when the price of electricity drops below a certain threshold which is great. But I believe this toggle also turns on notifications every day of when new rates are available. for me this is just noise and I only want the threshold notifications so separating out the two would just make the app very slightly nicer as if it could be - thanks

Response from developer

Sorry for the delay in getting back on this (reviews can be slow, sorry). For support or feature requests send an email straight to contact@smarthound.uk and I will often get back to you within minutes. The way you describe it is how it should work: you set the toggle for e.g. 15p, and notifications should only be sent out when rates for the next day actually drop below this rate. Do check that it is set up as such. If it is, and you are still getting a notification every day even when rates do not drop below that value, then do reach out to me!

Subscription hasn’t renewed despite taking the money

I like the app and the additional features are worth the annual fee for the paid version. But octopus have taken my subscription renewal fee and not renewed my subscription. Neither did they notify me that they have cancelled my subscription. I now have the hassle of finding out who to go to and of sorting this out.

Great, when it actually updates!

The app on the watch will often just stop updating in the background and show you a static WRONG value on the complication, and when you tap into it it will just say “updating…” and never actually update even if the phone app has the current data. DO NOT PAY FOR THIS BROKEN APP

The data stopped

I can’t praise the developer enough not only is the information useful and much much easier to understand than the raw data from Octopus but Kim was very helpful when I had a problem with data coming from Octopus
