Offing — Offline Chat

no bars. no problem. Offing is a social feed that runs entirely phone to phone over Bluetooth. No wifi, no cell service, no servers, no accounts — just everyone within a few hundred metres of you. Your phone carries the crowd's posts a few hops further, and yours ride theirs. Built for the places your signal dies: festival fields, campsites, basement venues, stadium crowds, the middle of nowhere. THE FEED — Drop a post and it spreads phone to phone through everyone around you. Posts live about six hours, then they're gone from every phone that carried them. No archive, because there's no server to keep one. RADAR — See who's in range, closer to the middle = closer to you. Rings are signal strength, honestly labelled: we can't point at people, only tell how near they are. WAVES — See someone interesting? Wave. One tap, no opener required. If they wave back, a chat opens for both of you. If they don't, nothing happens and nobody's embarrassed. CHAT — Waves and messages are end-to-end encrypted. The phones relaying them carry them blind. GROUPS — Private channels for your crew. Join by scanning a QR in person; posts are sealed so relays outside the group can carry them without reading them. STORIES & PHOTOS — Photos are shrunk to a few kilobytes on your phone so they can ride the mesh. What you attach is exactly what travels. PINS & ROUTE — Found something? Pin the spot to your post and everyone who sees it gets an arrow and a distance. Found the secret taco stand? Now everyone can walk to it. POLLS — Settle where the night ends democratically. HONEST BY DESIGN • Anyone in range can see your handle and vibe tags — that's the point, it's how people find you • Your location is never broadcast and never uploaded; it only travels when you deliberately pin it to a post • Your identity key is generated on your phone and never leaves its secure storage • Blocking someone hides them everywhere on your phone and stops your phone relaying their posts • No ads, no tracking, no analytics, no data collection — there's no server to collect it GOOD TO KNOW • Offing is only as alive as the phones around you. Get two friends on it and you've already got a mesh. • Needs Bluetooth on. Works fine with wifi and cellular off, in airplane-mode-with-Bluetooth, or where there was never signal to begin with. • Battery saver mode included for long days in the field. Make it up.
