Fun concept but CONFUSING

I am very frustrated with movement and aiming controls. The help is not clear for someone who is not mathematically savvy. How does 1.414 equal a diagonal move?? And warping at 0.anything to try to stay within a quad seems to have wildly different results each time. One result can be my ship randomly needing 40-50 years to repair! I didn’t do anything. Would appreciate update with much clearer explanations, or to be linked to a comprehensive user manual.

Response from developer

Thank you for the feedback. I will revisit the movement calculations. Will also look at the repair logic.

Excellent support

I reported a minor issue, and the developer fixed it and responded within a month. Thanks very much!

... Looks like another update is in order. Thx Updated and fixed. Available in App Store.

Nice retro game - cursor visibility issue

I’ve been playing this off and on for a couple of years. It’s a cool retro game - much like one of the very first computer games I played in the late 70s using a Decwriter, connected over a 300 baud acoustic modem…

Unfortunately, the latest update to fix the night mode rendered the cursor invisible on the day mode.

Still doesn’t work

Developer said to press the Help button. It doesn’t work.

Response from developer

I would suggest trying the Help button. The instructions will pop up and explain how the game works; just like the legacy game. I am on iOS 16.4 and the app functions correctly. If you click on say "Galactic Records", does anything show up in the scrolling area on the left-middle of the screen? One last thing, what iOS device are you using? Are you in portrait or landscape mode? Hi. I have duplicated your problem and am working in it. It looks like the app doesn't work, at present, in Dark Mode. The problem you were experiencing has been corrected.

Good implementation of the Classic game

A good implementation of the Classic dumb terminal mainframe Star Trek simulation. Full feature set. Not the simplistic version David H Ahol published in the old creative computing magazine.

Not bad but lacking

Playable, fun, but getting bored after only two games. I’ll have to look for my dos version that is near perfect. This one appears to lack romulans, klingon commanders, super commanders, planets, dilithium chrystals, shuttle craft, transporter, death ray, tribbles...and couldn’t you add some text message when you die, like “...the Federation will be destroyed!!!” Rather than “RAN OUT OF TIME - CANNOT CONTINUE”. Seems like the programmer got bored of the project. Worth every penny of 99 cents, LOL

Not Complete

While a pretty good recreation of the original ascii game, all you do is move and shoot Klingons.

No Romulans, no planets or mining, no docking with Starbases and it’s a different movement scheme.

But not the full game by any stretch of the imagination.

I was playing it in 1980 at Junior College listening to “Funkytown” by Lipps, Inc.

There’s some trivia for you which is more useful than this game.

Great Old Time Game

This game brought back a lot of memories playing it on an Apple 2E with amber screen. Some things the developer could add to this game that would make it out of this world is the sounds. There are plenty of Star Trek ring tones, from the Apple store, that a user could load into the game and use if it were written in the code. Maybe make a sounds settings button to load from there. It would make it way cool.

Not Complete, not playable

Jan 4, 2019 downloaded the app. Warp control does not ask for speed and direction as expected. But with a little looking around you’ll find three boxes that can accept text. On an iPad the text that explains these boxes is far away on the left... but these boxes are for “warp”, “direction”, “phaser energy”. So the game is functional. Developer might want to move the boxes and words closer together... also the “help” doesn’t actually reference these boxes correctly. BUT, all that said, this is a faithful re-implemented Star Trek game from the 1970’s and as such is AWESOME!

Thank you for your input. I find the one-star rating as somewhat harsh though. I usually reserve one-star ratings for apps that do not function; not ones with primitive user interface.

Retro Star Trek game

This game plays just the old game we used to play years back.
