RNG Ruins This Game

First off, this is a unique and interesting game and the art is wonderful. However, as you progress in difficulty, the RNG is absolutely broken. Time after time I find myself getting screwed over with random chance while getting placed against players that are having their best luck. It doesn’t feel good, fair, or balanced. I don’t need to win every match but getting 6th over and over because of bad luck is poor game design.

Great game

Great game. Lots of fun and fair pay mechanics.

Good, fast, convenient.

If you like auto-battlers this one is definitely worth giving a try. It is free, fast-paced, and easy to learn. Similar to Hearthstone Battlegrounds but more fun and well developed in my opinion. RNG can be rough sometimes but games feel casual and go fast so it is not a big deal to just go next when you get rolled.

Great game!

Amazing game. Simply put. It’s actually fun to play.

Definitely fun.

This game is fun. There are enough leaders that it does not get repetitive, but after a few months I think it will unless I spent money to get different characters. But I am certainly enjoying it now.

Good but not “beginner” friendly

I’m not usually into TCG/Deck building games much, and this game is definitely a lot of fun, but it very much so seems to assume you know how to play this sort of game. There’s almost no tutorial of sorts, and even less telling you what is going on. I’m doing pretty well I think, but it’s a lot of me just guessing and praying. I would love if there was at least some sort of way to look up things to understand more - like what does a treasure actually look like, what is a spell, how often can things be used? Overall it isn’t clearly labeled or, basically, complete beginner friendly. I still don’t even know how to build myself a custom deck, and once I have, where to find it. The game is fun and I play it a lot, which is why I gave it 4 stars, but for how much I get lost or confused, I really wanted to give it 3.

Great!

No pay to win here, just good card smashing fun. Give it a shot!

Great laid back auto-battler!

This game is very fun! The balance seems good so far, the community is active and friendly, the game lets you play it at your own pace and is a lot of fun!

Like a faster hearthstone

As a HS fan, this game is dope. Matches are fast and don’t require constant connections or waiting. Cool.

Pay to win

Devs are consistently adding p2w features over the last few updates.

Pay To Win DO NOT DOWNLOAD

I loved this game and have been very competitive in high MMR lobbies, playing multiple games a day. With the new reroll microtransactions I will not be playing nearly as often if at all.

If you’re interested in this game you should not download it, find a better game with a dev team that has demonstrated that they will take reasonable action to monetize their game without sacking it.

The captain reroll microtransactions cause high MMR games to be more stale with the same OP captains and put you at a competitive disadvantage if you don’t have them. RIP to what used to be a cool game.

What a Beautiful Game

Once upon a galaxy is so interesting because some games you'll be committing literal war crimes against actual children and other games you're getting 5th place after obtaining every secret rare treasure on turn 16

Fun Until It’s Frustrating

Game is fun for a while, but something isn’t right about the balance of it. It’s very easy for it to seem like you and your opponents are not playing the same game. Some games it feels like you’re two turns behind, some games you’re the one two turns ahead. Some games it seems your opponents just leave and their board never changes, and you can tie the game into infinity. This makes me believe that the asynchronous nature of the game just takes random snapshots of boards up to a point and then it’ll just give you the same one forever until the games over. The strategy aspect of this just feels nonexistent.

It’s probably better to save yourself the headache and not download this.

Stupid

So I was having a good run but had to change apps for sixty seconds. POOF. RUN VANISHED.

New predatory IAPs

I used to really support this game - advertised it to all my friends and anyone looking for a fun game they can play on the go. I spent a fair amount of money just to support the developers because I really believed they were onto something good. Unfortunately, their recent patch added in a new monetization for an in-game advantage. It adds up to $45… at its discounted price. There’s no way for free-to-play players to unlock these advantages. It’s one thing to lock cosmetics behind a paywall, but doing it to gameplay is completely different. It’s scummy and unnecessary.

Paid Rerolls are a terrible idea

The game has a just problem with captain bloat, with each requiring all cards to be unlocked all over again and each diluting the chances of seeing any other.champion in your picks. Selling the "solution" for 60 bucks and another 20 for every set is just a terrible, greedy idea that leaves all non-whale players in the dust.

this game is awesome

i. love. this. game. the fact that theres no ai and no ads makes it even more appealing to me! the gameplay has me losing actual hours in the day and i love giving different captains a try.

It’s fine.

Just started playing and my first impressions is that the game is meh and worst and ok a best. I think that in general the draft system for a “deck” is too randomized. For example I could be trying to make a strategy based on the animal type getting a good piece for the strategy and maybe also a good captain but then get nothing for two turns forcing me to entirely change strategies. I think that currently the thing I want most is to be able to customize or be able to control the decks if that is a feature. I hope to find it soon. It may also be because I can’t read any of the text which might be a problem on my side. I also have no idea if I am playing against real people but I doubt so since I’ve only been playing for about 5-10 minutes. Also have no idea what the pass does or what happens when I get enough stars for the next tier since I saw no changes in my gameplay. Again this all could change as I play this game for longer since I trust VeggieWagon from decked out but for now I think this is the highest review I can give this game.

New update ruined game

Idk what they did but ever since the update my luck has been worse the character selection has been worse and the game quality has decreased.
