About
OpenCastor is the free, on-device way to set up a home robot and see exactly what you told it to do.
Pair a robot on your own network, ask it for one capability, and approve the exact command before it runs. The robot answers with a signed receipt — and when it declines, the refusal is a signed receipt too, not an error. You can verify every receipt on your phone, offline, with no account and nothing sent to a cloud service.
SET UP IN MINUTES
- Install the runtime on the robot with one copyable command, then scan the pairing code.
- Or find the robot on your local network automatically, or type its address.
- A clear checklist walks the whole first-run, with a plain explanation before any permission prompt.
ASK, THEN SIGN THE EXACT COMMAND
- Pick a capability from the robot's own manifest.
- Before anything runs you see the exact tool name and arguments that will be sent — read it, then approve. The request is signed on your device with your key.
- The app decides nothing on its own. You approve; the robot's gateway responds.
RECEIPTS YOU CAN VERIFY
- Every command comes back as a signed receipt: allowed or refused.
- A refusal is itself a signed receipt from the robot's gateway that says which rule declined it — never a silent failure.
- Receipts are kept in a hash-chained journal on your phone. Tap Verify to check the signature on-device, with no network. A one-byte tamper toggle proves the check actually works.
LOCAL-FIRST, NOTHING COLLECTED
- Robot discovery and commanding are direct over your local network.
- No account, no analytics, no third-party SDKs, no tracking. Your receipts and journal stay on your device. See "Data Not Collected" in the App Privacy label.
AN OPEN ON-RAMP
- OpenCastor is built on open building blocks: a robot manifest, a signing gateway, a signed-envelope format, and an open robot registry.
- If you run an organization and already have an ingest key, you can push your own signed journal to a shared atlas in one step. That is entirely optional; the whole app works, and stays useful, with no subscription and no sign-up.
OpenCastor is a free portfolio project, built solo end to end. Give any robot a legible setup, and keep the receipt.
