Cancelled on us

We used outdoorsy 3 years prior to rent a camper for our annual family campout. This year (2 weeks prior to our reservation) they offered a longer rental option to the people who owned the camper and they cancelled on us. Outdoorsy told them that they would help their customers find another unit. It never happened. We couldn’t get the campsite money back either. Bad business practice.

Scam, don’t rent your RV, send scam mechanics

We had our RV generator run into problems while getting rented out. Outdoorsy sent a guy out who said he couldn’t do anything and it needed to be replaced and demanded 750$. He refused to leave until he was paid for nothing. Outdoorsy completely ignored us. Now we have to buy a new generator and the service to put that in, all while Outdoorsy pockets the money. You’re better off with literally any other service renter or owner of a rental.

Terrible and crazy platform

Terrible platform and extremely poor support. My vehicle was damaged by a renter, and for two months Outdoorsy has failed to properly resolve the case or compensate me. I also cannot recover the money from the renter because support keeps opening new reviews and repeatedly requesting information and evidence I have already submitted. The claims process is disorganized, slow, and unacceptable. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend avoiding Outdoorsy.

“Your trip protection is pending” popup never goes away making it unusable

Despite submitting the trip protection many times, the popup never ends, making the app completely unusable.

Will change review if fixed

Easy to use and well thought out.

We just used outdoorsy for the first time and it couldn’t have been easier! It was all well planned out and easy all we had to do was pick up the rv pack our bags and go. Less expensive than the big rental companies too.

16 day adventure

We’ve had an excellent adventure exploring a lot in Oregon, Redwood NP, and Washington over the past 15 days. The RV has been great for our trip. It is older but everything works.

Being charged for just installing the app

I downloaded the app in early July. I just noticed that I’m being charged $35.99 per month. I haven’t registered an account or anything. Somehow I’m still being charged. I will be disputing these charges.

They finally fixed it!

I love this app and how easy it is to find rentals but the app used to log me out every single time it goes into the background or is closed. It was insanely annoying and broke notifications. But that is fixed now so 5/5 stars!

Best way to make a great vacation

I used Outdoorsy now for several years. Super easy to rent and return. No hassle, hosts are great and customer service from outdoorsy is excellent.

Camper review

Alex makes renting a camper a true pleasure. His kindness throughout the entire process is a great experience. My family and I appreciate the time and dedication he puts into making each camping trip a fun and successful time.
A plus rating.

Good app

Fair prices and lots-of options.
App could use a good tweak, glitches from time to time.

Terrible experience

If you are considering using an RV share app, you should avoid Outdoorsy entirely.

Their customer service is atrocious. If there is a problem, you will be 100% on your own. They will not do anything to help with an issue, reimburse you for costs associated with your rental problem.

Completely ruined my vacation no recourse, no help…they just don’t care.

Highly recommend finding another Service do not use Outdoorsy. they have plenty of competition to choose from.

Too many last-minute cancellations that they don’t do anything about

My family and I have tried it a few times, but every reservation has been cancelled. Outdoorsy needs to penalize hosts that do this. I’m never using it again.

Nope

App was duct taped together to modify it for Canada and it shows. Changed over to using RVezy which has better functionality and better insurance coverage, at least in BC.

Totally rubbish

One of the worst apps to try to navigate that I have ever come across. When reopening the app it insists on returning you to a Sales page even when you’re on an active trip.. the only way to message the host whilst on a trip is to enter via an email link. a waste of time

LOSING MONEY

I have rented out campers before. And chose outdoorsy for the insurance. They do not cover anything. Renter damages the camper you’re out everything. They won’t help, and will call you every 15 minutes with people in a different country to tell you that they’re getting help. Little do they tell you that you will be paying out 100% of the cost. For everything. Renter is going through a dispute. They literally told me “we can’t make them pay.”
But the worse part is when a representative from outdoorsy told me “we feel it’s your responsibility to maintain your camper better”
When someone severely damaged my camper and cost me $2,300.
It’s ridiculous and I hope this saves someone the financial burden.
Just do it yourself. More money and less headache going through their BS “care team”
Take it from someone that lost $3,000 from their first rental.

Will not rent from outdoorsy again

Rented a trailer on outdoorsy that had a mechanical breakdown. The leaf spring broke on one side no other damage or any collisions.

I as the renter am expected to cover this. The insurance I bought through them specifically list this as not covered as its wear and tear according to the insurance policy they sold me. So I am paying for wear and tear on a trailer I don’t even own plus what I paid to rent the trailer.

Nope

App was hacked to modify it Canada and it shows. Listings are expired left for RVezy which has better functionality.

Age Restrictions not communicated

I booked a 9 day trip out west including the van, campsites, hotel, flights etc… over 3 months ago. I was told last week after attempting to verify my ID you had to be 25 to rent a van. I understand they have policies but communicating this BEFORE I spend thousands of dollars (some of which is not refundable) would have been nice.

There is still a flaw in the system.

It’s not something that can be fixed. It’s just a natural flaw in the Airbnb type model.

I have been using Outdoorsy for five years. Each year in the fall, I try to make a reservation in advance for the following summer. My window to coordinate my trailer reservation to my campground reservation is tight. I’m so happy when I find the right trailer….and then., the owner cancels. I now have to repeat the process. And once I find the perfect trailer and owner, they disappear for the next season.

So it’s the cancellation thing that has hit me yearly. I think I’ve got a good one for my upcoming trip. I hope it’s not me. I’m a very easy renter. Super clean. I know, it’s the system and we are all just playing in it.
