Thank you.

Holy smokies, this is an inspirational piece of art in the form of ones and oh’s. And the artist takes pride in his art. Oh and this is a desert island synth. Betta bring some samples tho.. thank you sir.

Lovely instrument!

I love the overall sound and immediacy of this instrument. Creating custom multi-sample-based soundscapes is quick and easy. Unfortunately, preset management is limited and the app doesn’t expose presets to the file system (either on the iPad or in iCloud). Deleting presets cause the plug-in to completely lock up nearly every time.

Edit: working with the developer offline, he was able to quickly track down and solve the problems when deleting presets, and has some other interesting updates coming soon™ as well. :) 5-stars!

Response from developer

Hi there, sorry for the trouble! I believe most of these issue should be fixed in more recent versions. Are you still experience them? If you continue to have an issue, please feel free to reach out at hello@aqeelaadamsound.com

Does not work with Universal Audio Volt2

It sounds good and it does have MIDI channel select but it just pops and clicks when I try to use it with my common audio interface, then it crashes. If it does start up it does not respond toMIDI or output audio through the Volt 2.

Response from developer

Hi there, sorry for the issue! Just to be clear, there is a MIDI select dial in the settings menu for changing the MIDI channel. Dragging this up or down should let you change the channel. Is this not working for you? If you continue to have an issue, please feel free to reach out at hello@aqeelaadamsound.com

Love it

My favorite developer with another great app. Despite being a modluar guy i love using all his apps!
Kepp up the good work Aqeel! Much love and support from munich/germany

Quickly Became My Favorite Sample Player

Outgrowth is the fourth app by one of my favorite developers. Aqeel Aadam has a way of creating both beautiful sounding, and beautifully simple, complex instruments, effects and generators. Outgrowth is a continuation on this theme. It allows some incredible ways to manipulate sound, but without overwhelming you with menus or too many options. You can quickly tune in sample modulation in a visual manner, in a way that augments your ears. I don’t know how else to say it, but he just has a way of making really deep sound and rhythm manipulation extraordinarily easy to access. I know this app will grow with me as I spend more time with it and that makes me really happy. I place this high on my list of totally worthwhile iOS music apps to own.

Very impressed

This is such great environment to create in and to add new life to my samples. The various expressive options took a couple of hours to for me to become proficient in . There a something like an infinity of options to sound design. The sample mapping feature is just surprisingly super accurate ….. infinity of sounds unfolds 👍🎶🙏🙏🏿

Truly Immersive Sampling App.

What Aqeel has done here is made using a sample driven app incredibly immersive, easy to use and fun. It’s my favourite sample based app. So many possibilities.
Aqeel is a developer that I think we will hear a lot more of in the near future.
Innovative and genius apps.
Nice one Aqeel.

Interesting sample player, but sadly no time-stretching

Nice design and features for playing samples, but minus a star for lack of time-stretching, pretty essential for any serious sample based instrument to avoid ‘chipmunk’ style voicing. So I find the app more useful for ambient pad style patches and soundscapes.

Also find the lack of built in sample recording a surprising omission.

A good start, but implementation of the features above would greatly improve UX and flexibility.

Effect slot

Love this app but it would be perfect if you can record into the effects slot like MolliLooper . Was going to give it 4 stars for that, but the app is really good but could be perfect.

I want to love it. Fix this bug please!

When I press “X” next to LFO destination the app crashes. Please fix 🙏

Response from developer

Hi Kyle, this bug should be fixed on the latest version of the app! (v1.0.3)

Genuinely inspiring!

One of the most inspiring apps I’ve come across. It really is a beautiful, flexible and capable instrument that always seems to result in usable outcomes. The five engines, audio effects and modulation options are a real joy to use. I’d give this more stars if I could!

Nice sample player!

Import any sample and control it in a lot of unique ways. The granular and wavetable conversation of the sample allows for some great options. I especially love the modulation matrix and the options that it has. With the round Robbin selection of multiple samples and the modulation source ‘random per note’, a lot of natural sounding life can “outgrow” from your samples.

I would give 5 stars if…
1) if it had an easy way to record in samples from the microphone or audio input instead of pointing to file locations
2) if it didn’t crash when you (X) out of a modulation option. As an example, when I assigned a mod source like ‘jitter’ to pitch, adjust a range, etc, then decide you don’t want that mod option, X it out and the program crashes- obviously this is a bug to work out… So the matrix works, but you have to load the init patch and start from scratch if you want to remove the mod source, or alternatively- you could bring that mod amount to zero and just move on.
3) both ‘jitter’ and LFO affect the sound globally (mind you, I am not using MPE mode and don’t know if that makes a difference) so if you play a chord, all notes of the chord move together in variation (pitch control being most obvious). Especially for the ‘jitter’, it would be nice to have this per voice rather than a global function.

If these things were fixed or more obvious, I would give it a 5 because it really does sound great, but use your own samples and experiment! It is well worth it and I do highly recommend this app despite my gripes above.

I do love the reverb happening before the amplifier- it is a nice effect that I could previously only do with modular synths.

Hey Jon, totally fair criticism! We are pushing a fix soon that addresses the deletion issue, and finding a solid way to incorporate recording is one of our top priorities right now.

Delivers

Versatile, creative and fun. Outgrowth gives you many sound design options to make your sounds unique. Practically any sample can be turned into something magical.
The built in tape and reverb adds warmth and tones of nostalgia.
There’s a good amount of samples to get you started, but bringing in your own is simple yet flexible.
The user experience is good with nice drag n drop for plenty of modulation.

In short the app covers a range of territories including keyboard players but excels at ambient and experimental.

I have controlled the app with Space Walk which seems to be a great companion for Outgrowth.

There’s one thing I’d like; for the developer to consider in update, and that’s an option to have the repitch mode keep the original sample playback speed within a one or two octave range. As an option on/off.
