Buggy but excellent.
Cons: Buggy last couple of months (across the board of devices). Another con is politics but, whatever. Dev has a popular long running podcast, fun to listen usually and every now and then maybe insightful! Recommend.
I really wish the on the fly / up next/”now playing” playlist system was similar to basically every other audio player ever. This is seriously behind in its UX. Adding to “play next” means nothing as there is no rolling on the fly playlist. Can’t just skip to next / distinct podcasts and then come back to it later to finish up. Can’t bookmark important parts. No “AI” integration. Its audio (speed/eq) is good.
TLDR I’ll probably end up re subbing, on the fly playlist sucks but transcript are sooooooo worth it!!!! AWESOME TRANSCRIPTS. Amazing. Thank you Marco.
Fantastic. Gets better with each update.
Playlist priority still doesn’t work
Love this!
Used to be good
Works well
Episode Limits Broken and Stress Inducing
Amazingly purposeful podcast app!
Little hack advice: stop playing at the end of each podcast in the setting is the power user hack!
Getting worse
Thank God
Never loads
FIX FAST FORWARD ISSUE PLEASE
You start a new podcast, it starts downloading, and you have cell service or WiFi so the episode plays anyway. But when you fast forward through the first 1-2 minutes of a podcast, usually an introduction or ads, and the download hasn’t loaded the first 1-2 minutes yet, the app fast forwards you to ANOTHER EPISODE. This drives me absolutely crazy.
Otherwise great app.
Great app, annoys me daily
If you're looking for a podcast app, this is it
I honestly have no idea how one guy made such a perfect app in his spare time.
Custom Playlists Didn’t Work For Me
I had one simple need - different playlists which this is meant to support. I don’t know why this isn’t in apple - I feel like different listens on different days, this can’t be unusual.
Anyway off I went, installed set my basic settings and I created my History and Current Affairs playlist. Populated it with episodes by zipping back and forward from the Apple App. But of a pain but light was at the end of the tunnel.
So far impressed despite it being a little clunky I created my Drama playlist. Open it and it had all the episodes from my history playlist already populated. Odd I thought, oh well and then deleted them. Added a few drama podcasts. Went back to my History playlist. It was now my Drama playlist with a different title.
I decided to try again and found the Appear in Playlist Setting. Set one to drama, set one to News. Added episodes to Drama. Found them in News. Went back to the podcast and the found in setting hadn’t saved. Changed it again. Repeated the process and this time it did work.
Also the episodes in the Lovecraft Investigations were not in Season Order. Season 1 appears all the way down after Season 3 which I only knew from the Apple App.
My experience so far fairly buggy. Feels like I need both apps but considering the experience will probably skip this as don’t want to build lists only to find them needing to be rebuilt
I’m on iPhone 16 maybe it works for everyone else but this functionality didn’t work for me.
Episode limits are sane again!
Easy to control, non-pushy
2026.8.1 Playlists Fixed!
Curated downloads are fixed and will not delete after adding to a playlist. Thank you. Old review below:
This update including a “strict episode limit” that straight up deletes episodes in progress from both my device and any playlists they’re queued in. It’s now impossible to queue up arbitrary episodes in a playlist without basically disabling the limit entirely.
The old system would occasionally delete queued up episodes as well, but they would at least be maintained in playlists and could be “pinned” by playing a few seconds of them, locking them from being downloaded.
I’m updating this review to 1-star until this change is reverted. It completely breaks playlists and makes it impossible to manually curate episodes to listen to.
Best Player App
Cautiously optimistic after some recent bumps (premium user)
I do think some folks like me are a little weary of how the dev’s evangelism for AI tools and his trust in them is likely outpacing their actual capabilities. Hopefully more guardrails are put in place?
Why am I keeping it at 4 stars? Users shouldn’t have to be in a discord or on reddit or in test flight to be able to use an app. The dev could be so much better at communicating to users within the boundaries of the app’s text and interface. Also, I’m not sure if it’s changes to voice boost or an aspect of the downloads, but some quality of the audio experience has changed. I used to be able to listen to overcast for hours each day no problem (way longer than apple podcasts) and my ears throw in the towel a lot faster now.

Love the additional speed increments. Gonna stick with the classic miniplayer over the new one because I always miss words and need to go back. So glad it’s still an option!
