The King’s Language
Worth Every Single Penny
Whilst the App does not have the complete set of functions that are available on the OED website the ability to download the individual language dictionaries is invaluable.
The price is justified for the OED alone, the additional dictionaries are however extremely handy, and would be of assistance to any budding polyglot.
[Though for anyone taking their studies academically I would recommend always checking for the definitive dictionary of each language you are studying.]

Major update was poorly executed
Edit: some of the above issues have been fixed. However, searches, especially with wildcards such as *, are now painfully slow, taking several minutes at times to produce any results.
Edit: the app had become stable with a very useful wildcard feature. However a recent update has degraded it again. A search pattern such as ‘s???????s’ should produce 9-letter words beginning and ending with ‘s’, but instead produces a list of words of any length, essentially giving the same results as ‘s*s’. A pattern such as ‘a*b*’, calling for words beginning with ‘a’ and including ‘b’ used to yield a list firstly sorted by length and secondly alphabetically, but now the list is sorted only alphabetically. If one’s aim is to find words of a certain length, this renders the feature far less useful.

Thanks, but I’ll just cross the room and use the physical book I bought in 1998 - or the internet, which is still free (ish). 👀
