Pay for what

You people want me to pay to look at unli words.. how can you say now this thing is offline if I need to pay… so it’s not offline. This nonsense

Great app for Vocabulary expansion

It’s a dictionary in your pocket, that gives you a word a day (sometimes too easy of words, but a lot of the time it is a word that I didn’t know).

Be A Word Smith

If you a writer or student in High School or College consider downloading The Oxford Dictionary And Thesaurus. It is available in British and American English and in a wide selection of foreign languages. No other dictionary is as complete as an Oxford dictionary Dictionary. Included under word listing is word origin, pronunciation, variant meanings, synonyms and antonyms. There is also a daily word to help enhance vocabulary. Get it today! You can thank me later!

Ads even with subscription, lacking definitions

I was very disappointed in this app. Even with the subscription there were ads I had to wait for every time before searching for a word. Also, about a third of the words I searched using the app did not show up accurate or helpful definitions and I ended up googling the definition (where I did find correct ones). And these weren’t crazy words—they were ones I came across reading Charles Dickens, a pretty standard author for English lit classes.

Paywall for USING A DICTIONARY APP

If you want a different option just use an ai app of your preference. This is NOT worth it and is just scummy to the highest degree

Many missing words

Words such as belligerent. It’s terrible really.

The ads are unbearable

If you are studying French seriously and are looking up at least 100 words a day, the ads alone will make you want to stop using this app fast. It’s a good dictionary, but two ads every one word you look up is disgusting.

Dictionary

Great app

Best Resource for English Ever!

If you want to study English as a whole, this is the app to choose! It has everything you could ever want in a normal dictionary, while also including an amazing thesaurus. However, the thesaurus can only be free to use if you get the premium version of the app. Overall, 5 stars for this app is the perfect rating!

Gary

Great app. However it says free but with adds. Used it for a few years and the adds have increased. Now it will only let me in if I sign up to a subscription. I don’t mind paying for it once but I’m not going to sign up to a subscription. I bought the hardback concise version many years ago and it still serves me well. I would happily pay once and live without the updates but not going to pay continuously for small updates.

Edit: thank you kindly for adding a one time buy option.

Brilliant! Worth the subscription!

I love this! Having a great set of dictionaries and a thesaurus in my pocket, with offline ability and quick searching, plus audio of pronunciation, is so useful. I particularly like being able to mark a word with a star to add it to a list, so I can revise words that are new to me that sometimes trip me up (even though I’m a native English speaker). This isn’t the full Oxford English Dictionary (I have a separate subscription to that), but it’s a brilliant and accessible complement.

Not as good as Webster‘s third

It would be better if the definitions were longer and more of the Rich etymology from the OED was carried over.

Ads and pay

Why do I have to pay for everything and why so many ads

Who coded this app?

Upon opening, unlike every other iPhone dictionary, there is no cursor and no keyboard to enter a word… without a second press into the word field.

Glitchy

I spent a lot of money on this app. Always freezes, lags, stops working. What a waste. Previous, simpler versions were way better. By trying to add features and redesign it, the developers have ruined what was a very helpful app.
