DUMB!
I’m giving a low rating because the instructor in my very first Spanish video claimed that for a fluent English speaker, Spanish is easy to learn because they are both Latin languages.
First of all, the correct term is Romance language (the only Latin language is straight-up Latin!). Second, while Spanish is a Romance language, English most certainly is not. Yes, English was heavily influenced by French (a Romance language) after the 1066 Norman Conquest, which gave us a lot of borrowed vocabulary. However, English is fundamentally a GERMANIC language. Despite the borrowed Latin words, our grammar, syntax, sentence structure, and most common, everyday words (like water, house, strong, I, you) remain distinctly Germanic. If I were learning German, and the instructor told me it might be easier to learn because of our shared roots, that would be accurate.
Also it’s trying to teach me that “el” means both the and he. But he is “Él” so they shouldn’t treat that as the came. This made me laugh.

Has promise
It’s a fun and cute and a little bit addictive app (this is a good thing in a learning app) but not really there yet. A bit amateur and sloppy and I suspect very AI influenced. . It’s not always intuitive how sections work. It adds erroneous words like people’s names and letter pronunciations to its flip cards. It isolates phrases for the listener to repeat but often includes the last word from the previous sentence. I definitely feel like it’s on the right track, but I don’t have time for all these errors right now. If I was learning just for fun I might try longer, but I don’t so I am switching to another app.
Edit: to people complaining about it costing money—seriously? Are you providing free apps? Sure that would be nice but I do not expect people to work for free. Also, it’s very easy to cancel during the trial week. Just go to your Apple subscriptions. If you missed that you have just seven days free, that’s on you.

It’s good but one tiny flaw
When I am learning words it has me tap them and it adds them to “known” words. Only hearing something once doesn’t count it as known in my book. I need to be able to say it and know what it is just as easily as hola, por favor, or gracias for it to be known. I have to remove those words to “learning” but have no clear way to relearn them without having go through the lesson again where it forces me to put them to known again. That needs addressing. Please look into that. Also this app needs a widget. It doesn’t have one.
