About
PasswordClue is a memory aid designed to help you remember how you formed a password by storing indirect clues—not the password itself. Its core clue features work offline.
Create a separate entry for each account or service and add up to five private hint layers that only make sense to you. Reveal your hints one at a time whenever you need a reminder.
FEATURES
• Up to five layered clues, revealed one at a time
• Optional username hints
• Categories, favorites, local search, recently viewed items, archive, and restore
• Optional review reminders scheduled locally on your device
• Revealed clues automatically hidden after 30 or 60 seconds
• Optional device authentication using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode, depending on device configuration
• Controls to hide content in the app switcher and while iOS reports active screen recording or screen sharing
• Username hints and clue layers encrypted locally using AES-GCM
• No app account, developer server, analytics, advertising, tracking, or cloud synchronization
IMPORTANT
PasswordClue is a memory aid, not a password manager. It has no dedicated password field and does not generate passwords, autofill login forms, connect to third-party accounts, or recover passwords.
Never enter or store an actual password in PasswordClue. The app may warn when entered text resembles a password, but detection is only a guide and cannot identify every actual password. Always create indirect hints that only you understand.
Username hints and clue layers are encrypted and stored locally. Account or service names, categories, and organizational information also remain local but are not encrypted by PasswordClue. PasswordClue does not transmit your clue data to a server.
PasswordClue data stays on the original device. It is intentionally excluded from iCloud and computer backups and does not synchronize or transfer to a replacement device. If the device is lost, damaged, erased, or replaced—or if clue data is deleted—the clues cannot be recovered, even by the developer.
The Privacy Policy and Support links require an internet connection and open external webpages. All clue-management features work without an internet connection.
