Truly a case of read the reviews...wish I had!
I don't write many reviews on here and when I do, it's almost always to reinforce a great product. Sadly, occasionally you feel the need to write one when you feel a product is clearly not up to specifications....this is one such product, in every way.
Clearly designed from a Droid perspective, the menu system itself (indeed the entire MMI--Man-Machine-Interface) has a dated feel to it and looks very antiquated. I wonder how Apple even let this in the store...it does NOT follow the Apple Style Guide in many, many aspects. Want to see? Just open the Help file and you'll see what I mean. An ability to contact the developers? Not imbedded, you'll have to go to their web page to get that. It simply in no way follows an Apple experience, it is an Android experience from front to back.
Now about contacting the developers....good luck with that one. I had an issue on this program and sent an email....ZERO response. Not even a reply email that my email had been received. Conversely, I contacted GAIA GPS the same day with an issue and not only received a response back to indicate that they had received my email, I had an answer back in two hours.
Not that this is a bad program/app per se....if you're a total map head that has in investment in custom maps, this seems to be a willing program to import and work on those maps. But as a simple, Apple-ish experience of using your iPad or iPhone as a true mapping device if falls far, far short of GAIA and others.
Add to it, it's ridiculously expensive. I spent US $29.99 on a program that isn't as capable as its peers. Many comments on here point you to their website and mention how old the posts are. They are for the most part except for the PROBLEMS which are VERY current.
Highly, highly NOT recommended. I'd certainly love my money back!

App turns off as soon as I open it up
waste of $
No support. Check the pathway iOS support pages, all are years old. Sent email to pathaway via their web site - no response. cannot import maps any of the way outlined. App shuts down upon trying to import any map.

Too complicated
I was looking for a simple trip tracker for kayaking and while this "might" be a good app for other purposes, it's a little too complicated and buggy for my uses...
Granted, I didn't read the manual and, in their defence, when I emailed the company for help, they did reply within 1 day (which is cool) I ultimately found a better app for my use (from Navionics) that works better, doesn't crash and is easier to use without detailed reading required

Excellent for military
Simply the best outdoor software, only lacks two things: is confuse to use and when you import your own map it doesnt locate very correctly, but even this, is the only one that can do it. The price should be better too.
