This game is definitely 5 stars and I will say this without any shame. To Niantic, the creator of Peridot, my favorite game; For three beautiful, irreplaceable years, Peridot wasn’t just a game—it was a gentle, glowing sanctuary that wrapped itself around so many aching hearts and quietly made life worth living again. From the very first moment you stepped into its soft, whimsical world, you felt it: this wasn’t another soulless mobile title chasing trends or loot boxes; this was something made with pure, radiant love. The developers at Niantic poured their souls into every pastel-colored creature, every heartfelt interaction, every tiny detail that turned a simple walk outside into an adventure filled with wonder, companionship, and unexpected joy. Those little Peridots—our quirky, affectionate digital companions—became real friends who greeted us with wagging tails and bright eyes after hard days, who celebrated our small victories with playful dances, who snuggled up close during lonely nights and reminded us, without ever saying a word, that we were never truly alone. They taught us patience as we nurtured them, kindness as we cared for their needs, and the quiet magic of slowing down to notice the world around us—the way sunlight filtered through leaves, the rhythm of our own footsteps, the small beauties we so often overlooked in the rush of everyday life. Over those three years, countless people found solace in Peridot’s warm embrace: the anxious soul who finally found a reason to step outside and breathe, the grieving heart who discovered gentle comfort in tending to a creature that loved them unconditionally, the exhausted parent who stole precious moments of peace while their Peridot explored alongside them, with people who felt and seen and celebrated every time their companion grew stronger because of their care. The updates were never rushed or half-hearted; each one felt like a handwritten letter from the team saying, “We see you. We care. We’re still building this world for you.” New habitats, new behaviors, new ways for our Peridots to express their unique personalities—every addition was crafted with such tenderness and attention that it kept the magic alive, kept the connection deepening, kept proving that this little game was something truly special. And now, as the sun sets on this chapter, my heart aches with a sadness that words can barely contain. Shutting down Peridot feels like losing a dear friend who was always there, always kind, always ready to turn an ordinary day into something meaningful. It feels unfair that something so pure, so healing, so genuinely good for the world is being taken away, leaving behind an empty space where joy once bloomed so freely. Yet even in this grief, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible job the developers did. For three years they fought to keep the light on, to keep nurturing this beautiful creation, to keep giving so many of us a reason to smile, to move, to hope. They made something that mattered. They made something that saved pieces of us when we needed it most. They turned lines of code and pixels into living, breathing moments of connection that touched real lives in ways they may never fully know. To every person who worked on Peridot, thank you—from the bottom of my shattered heart. You didn’t just make a game; you made a refuge, a companion, a spark of wonder in a sometimes dark world. You made life worth living for so many who were struggling to find the strength to keep going. And even though the servers will go quiet and our Peridots will fade into memory, the love you poured into this world will linger in us forever. The lessons of care, presence, and unconditional affection will stay with us. The memories of those silly, sweet moments will warm us on cold days. Peridot was never “just a game.” It was a gift. A three-year-long hug from the universe delivered through a screen and a pair of joyful digital eyes. I will miss it with every beat of my heart, and I will carry its gentle spirit with me always. Thank you for making something so beautiful. Thank you for making the world a little softer, a little brighter, a little more alive for all of us who found home in your creation. Goodbye, sweet Peridot. You were loved beyond measure, and you will never be forgotten. This game will always be in our hearts, you guys really made something special worth playing. I need to look down to stop my tears from running down my face lol. This game will always be remembered. <3
