Good service; frustrating app
I really like the core service and I’ve had great experiences with multiple sitters. But the app itself and process can be painful - it was really challenging just to be able to log in ; and even the process of paying petbackers id confusing and annoying - even when the item is “completed”, the petbscker doesn’t get paid until a review is submitted, which is both hard to know and frankly inappropriate.
So I’ll keep using the app because of the service; but the app and process are definitely confusing and often hard to navigate.

Good app.
I was pleased by the number of choices I had in my area. The information the sitters supplied helped me to form a short list and then my final choice. That they provided photos of their facilities were very helpful. The varied price ranges listed were good as well. The reviews were esential in my final choice, and was also helped by a multiple of facts this app provided me. Highly recommend it. My only dislike is the daily emails on things I had no interests in, not from my sitter.

Don’t Recommend
I’ve been looking for work on Petbacker. I completed all the qualifications weeks ago. I’ve been Housesitting and dog sitting for other companies in the past and this app only gets a few leads once every couple of weeks and the actual requests don’t seem to be professional or legitimate. They want you to call them on their personal phone and it seems to be a fake number and don’t follow up through the app. I’ve received no confident inquiries and it seems to be a waste of time and energy.

Skeptical…Turned out to be Perfect!!
I haven’t used an agency to book a sitter for my senior dog. I always knew somebody that knew somebody. But I have to say PetBacker was really easy to set up. And I found someone immediately after setting up my profile. Will definitely continue tk use them!

Trustworthy app
Significant Pricing Disconnect and "Expat Tax" Issues
Buyers be warned! The app is predatory towards both client markets and providers (read reviews and a ton of hidden fees for providers which drive up costs to consumers). The app itself functions okay, but the marketplace logic is completely broken, especially for users in developing countries. I found the quote system to be a race to the top for the most unrealistic pricing. I was receiving bids for $80+ US per day on what should cost around $20-$40 (and that’s for four animals) for basic pet sitting in the Philippines. The rates are logically inverted when you consider the sitter’s role includes private upscale accommodation, high-speed internet, and full amenities for a job that outside of a couple potty breaks and a couple feedings basically consists of chilling out, eating your food, watching your TV, and doomscrolling short-video on your high-speed internet which is often hard to come by here in the Philippines.
It feels like the app's algorithm or 'suggested rates' along with their taxes and fees encourage sitters to charge Western-tier prices (or higher) for services that attempt to re-configure the local economy, leading to a lot of time wasted declining 'lofty' proposals that don't reflect the local economy at all. I eventually found several highly qualified, experienced professionals outside the app for 1/4 of the cost. If you're an expat or moving to the region, be prepared to do a lot of vetting to avoid getting fleeced. The app needs better localized pricing guardrails or more transparent market data for both owners and sitters.
The only use it might serve is if you’re in a pinch and need to hire someone same day. Other than that, steer clear.

Fake
It seems as the jobs you received are fake. I have had the app for months and haven’t gotten a job once. Everything I sent a message they never replied back. The names seem that are bot generated and overall pretty bad experience.
Great service!
I’m so happy I stumbled across PetBacker service. It’s often difficult to find loving sitter for my cat but I’ve had great luck finding excellent ones! I highly recommend!

Some bugs during job update
This is a great platform for pet sitting, day care, walking etc. Easy to understand for beginners. The interface is simple and easy. But somehow it has some bugs and glitches while trying to send some job updates. Hopefully it can be fixed soon. Thank you!

So these apps say they’re free, but they’re not really. You sign up thinking you can start working, but then they hit you with fees for stuff like background checks or a “premium” account just to message people. It’s annoying because you’re trying to get a job, but they’re making you pay before you even get hired.Apps like Rover, Care.com, Wag all do this. It looks good at first, but once you try to use it, there’s always a paywall. It doesn’t make sense, because you’re the one doing the work. It should just be free to apply

I don’t trust this app two of the jobs I almost got were a scam and they were trying to get me to contact them off the app. Also most of the pet owners themselves don’t verify their ID or anything besides their email meanwhile the backers do so idk I don’t trust that. Although I told the support team about it I just simply don’t trust the actual jobs on there

Worked for us
First time using this app to find a Dogsitter in Europe. We found a wonderful and sweet sitter and had no issues. Just knocking off one star because it was hard to find the review function but I finally discovered it’s on the top left of the chat with the sitter.
