User reviews

The Magazine is brilliant...

…But the Pocketmags app is absolutely idiotic, clunky, slow and buggy. I’m actually considering cancelling my subscriptions to any magazines because the pocketmaps app is so awful. Every single update makes this app worse and worse. It freezes, it seems to seemingly delete magazines, causing me to have to download them again when you want to read them and does not make for a good reading experience... and this is on a new iPad Pro (M4 chip).
Can't believe you've got an option to delete bulk magazines in your library, yet you're forced to have to download each magazine one by one which is time-consuming and laborious.

Missing landscape mode and decent print

The missing landscape mode and a decent print and PDF export at least for the valuable sheets are slowly pushing me away from this magazine.
I use to track my practice on my own app, therefore I would also need a way to export PDFs or at least to print them.

Great idea; bad software

I was so looking forward to this publication — only to find that the app isn’t ready for prime time (in the U.S. anyway). Only two (out of approximately two dozen) attempts at reading from an issue have succeeded, because the pages won’t load properly: they’re variously . . . cut off in the middle, stretched out and unreadable, unscrollable, or simply blacked out. And there’s no help/support easily available even at the magazine’s website (nary a support mention). So I’ve asked for a full refund from Apple. Quite frustrating.

FAQ

What is Pianist magazine?

Pianist magazine is an internationally renowned publication for piano enthusiasts. It combines engaging articles, interviews, and reviews with over 40 pages of specially selected sheet music for players of all levels. Each score comes with accompanying sound files, allowing users to play along and hear how the pieces should sound.

What kind of content can I find in the app?

The app features top teaching tips, interviews with pianists from around the world, in-depth articles on practical techniques, album and sheet music reviews, Q&As, and concert highlights. The core of the experience is the sheet music section, offering pieces from Baroque to Contemporary with expert notes on technique and interpretation.

How much does the app cost?

The app itself is free to download. Within the app, users can purchase individual current and back issues. Subscriptions are also available, which will start from the latest issue and renew automatically unless cancelled more than 24 hours before the end of the current period.

What are the system requirements for the app?

While specific system requirements are not detailed, it is recommended to load the app for the first time in a Wi-Fi area to ensure all issue data is retrieved. If the app fails to load, deleting and reinstalling it from the App Store is advised. Users can register for or log in to a pocketmags account to protect their issues and browse purchases across multiple platforms.

Can I play along with the sheet music?

Yes, you can play along with the sheet music. Each score is accompanied by specially recorded sound files. By touching the 'play' button on each page, you can hear how the piece should sound, making it an interactive learning experience similar to having a piano teacher at home.
