Great add-on

Needed an App that found my music wherever it was stored, I paid for the Picky Deluxe, only £5, cheap as chips and one that doesn’t charge hundreds each year. ( this is a one off payment). Highly recommended. Looking forward to more enhancements.

Wasted money

Do not purchase. It ask you for .99 and only search local q. It then ask you to purchase plus for 4.99 and still can only search locally. My media files are on a network drive so I cannot access them.

Finally found what I wanted

I’ve been downloading alternatives to the iPhone Music app for years, always to return to Apple’s mediocre default. This is the first time I’ve been happy with something else. - Snappy performance - Good design with easy navigation that isn’t constantly stranding you on the “recently added” page - The “picklist” feature is fantastic for building a queue quickly - Cute icon If I had to ask for something, I would love for the option for the currently playing panel to default to “open” when I launch the app.

Edit: Still loving Picky! Makes my music listening so much easier.

Aw shucks, I’m thrilled to hear you’re so pleased with Picky! And thanks for the suggestion, I’ll add it to my ideas list for consideration for a future update 🙂. Cheers, Charles

I guess it’s worth the money

This is a good music player cause it automatically imports your songs which is good the only thing I didn’t like was that there was an other in app purchase call picky deluxe which I went ahead and brought to show my support

You’ve tried the rest, now try the best.

I’ve tried others and have come back to picky each time. It’s the simplest way to enjoy your music library and have an iPod-like experience on your iPhone.

Picky is the one

Class

Been searching for a music player that is dedicated to playing your collection (ITunes library etc). Whilst there’s some decent apps available, Picky is on another level. Really punchy audio, and it somehow sorts out those sound levels on ITunes, and keeps it consistent between artists, albums, files.

Simple and beautiful

Been getting really frustrated with Apple Music and bugs they are refusing to fix (think it’s a feature on some of them) but I digress… Instead of just complaining about it, I went searching for a third party app. I just need something for local music and cloud streaming from my iTunes Match subscription (been a subscriber for close to 10 years now). Picky seemed to be the best of the bunch. Available in my region and regularly updated by the developer and reasonably priced. I made the purchase and have been using it for the last hour and really impressed and happy. It’s like Music from a few years ago. So simplistic and basic. I don’t need any extra features, it all is here and it works! And it looks fantastic. Thank you for this awesome app and job well done. I’m happy and hoping to keep using this for many years to come.

Still loving it many months later but wanted to provide an update:

I canceled iTunes Match and found out that you can use Picky and “delete” the default app, but doing so will delete all downloaded music from your iPhone. But I deleted and then reuploaded directly from my Mac and didn’t have to redownload the default Music app. I am now using Picky all on its own and can sync from my Mac using the “Music” app with no issues.

However, doesn’t seem like you can use Picky while using iTunes Match or Apple Music if you want to get new music onto your iPhone, unfortunately.

But this saves me $25 every year now!

Lost music

I’ve used this app for years and thoroughly enjoyed it! HOWEVER, in recent months it either fails to import newly downloaded music or worse, simiply deletes music! The developer doesn’t appear to have any type of support other than to give a poor rating. Buyer beware!!!

Still the Best

In case anyone was wondering… this is still the best music player around. I am so grateful that the developer has continued to support it for all these years. Nothing compares.

Response from developer

Glad to hear how happy with Picky you are! I’ve been meaning to investigate playlist folder support further… stay tuned 🙂

Really Excellent App

Really useful - much nicer than the on-board Apple Music app – lots of little things for example when you look at the tracks on the album you can see more info at a glance than in the Apple app, more search & sorting options etc. too - I definitely recommend it! Jez P

Glad you find Picky so useful!

lost without it

best music player app I've found for what I need. way better than default ios7 and more intuitive than pricier, flashier alternatives.

Get it

After all these years, still the best app for playing music in your library. Amazing how it can be so hard to create something so simple and straightforward, but this app has the right stuff.

Response from developer

Thank you! I’m glad you’re still so pleased with Picky

Better than the native Apple Music app

This app is by far superior to the Apple Music app. From showing cd covers in artist view instead of an artist picture which is usually blank to allowing someone to see albums in the order downloaded to the iTunes collection from most recent to oldest in the entire history of the phone instead of only the last 20 or so like in the native player.this app does it right! It’s worth the purchase price and you will switch to it after about a week of adjusting. I’m a big fan of this app and highly recommend it for downloaded music for picky people!! Its primarily for people who prefer downloaded content to streaming, and for this purpose its perfect. I’m hoping he expands it to include separate categories for movies, music videos, tv shows or somehow is able to merge with vlc player to allow srt files with video and uploaded through the app via iTunes like vlc player…

Fantastic App!

Much better to look at and use than the clumsy & buggy stock music app.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying the app 🙂

Fantastic! Find entire ripped CDs on the “digital shelf”

Feb 2021 update: updated to 5 star.
I have rediscovered Picky after some time away. Not sure when search was added in a prior update, but I missed seeing it at the time .

This app is fantastic for navigating a large music library of entire albums and one hit wonders. Its my go to app to find and play all the music I own. Easy to use and does exactly what I need. Well done.

Original comments:
This app has one killer key feature i have never found elsewhere (filter artists by number of songs); however it lacks search capability which limits its usefulness for most day to day use where one wants to find specific songs among thousands in the collection (especially if you dont renember exact artist or song title).

This app has one particular key feature for old school guys like me who want to find and play entire albums or CD’s in their music collection, but you want to scan the collection to decide what to listen to:

It offers the digital equivalent of scanning through the milk crate of albums or shelf of CD’s: by filtering artists by the number of songs, I can separate the entire CD’s I have ripped from the thousands of one hit wonders in my collection, to find the old favourite that hits my mood from the shortlist.

The best music app

Straightforward, intuitive, well laid out, clean and extremely legible UI. Very reliable, and has been getting regular updates for years and years. This is the app you’re looking for.

The best!

Gives me control over my music. Simple to use. Great to navigate. Flexible

Has become slow

I loved this app for a long time but now (on my iPhone XR) every time I tap upon the surface it's unresisting and unresponsive bleak marble.
