I'm sorry the app didn't live up to your expectations. The export issue definitely isn't the experience I'm aiming for, and if you're able to email me with your device model and the file that gets stuck, I'd like to investigate. Complex models are supported, but performance does depend quite a bit on the device's available memory and processing power, so there are cases where older or lower-memory devices can struggle. I'm also curious about the auto support feature you mentioned. If the documentation refers to a support generation method that you couldn't find in the app, please let me know which page or section you saw - that may be outdated documentation on my end, and I'd like to fix it. The same goes for the AI features. If you can tell me which ones you tried and what changes didn't take effect, that would help me determine whether it's a bug or something that isn't working as intended.

Thanks for the honest review. Just to clarify one point - layer temperatures can be set for the first layer and for all subsequent layers. On supports, I’m not entirely sure which mode you were using - there are four options for filament printing (auto-generated at slice time, manual supports, block supports, and graph supports), and the experience can vary quite a bit between them. If you were using manual supports, that workflow is admittedly more hands-on right now and can feel tedious, which is something I want to refine. STL editing is currently limited to separating shells and planar cuts, so it’s not intended to be a full modeling tool. Crashes and freezes definitely aren’t expected, so if you can share anything reproducible (file, steps, what happened right before), that would really help track it down. On infill, additional patterns were already in progress and will be included in the next update (including honeycomb and gyroid). Appreciate the detailed feedback.

Hello, to see exact print times and material use with filament, you’ll need to use the preview export - that’s where the app does the full calculation. You can test this for free with the 3D Benchy calibration from the Open menu (no subscription needed). If it still doesn’t work, just drop me an email with your printer’s make/model and what went wrong so I can help.

Really great iPad slicer
I’ve found some minor frustrations around the manual placing and deleting of supports…sometimes it places, sometimes it deletes or moves them. Also the supports being visualized immediately puts them in the way when placing additional supports. I think a cool update would be to only show a tiny half-sphere nub that’s the diameter of the support tip at the model entry point for all supports that are either auto-generated or user placed. Then we could basically place nubs instead of long thin stalks that get in the way of remaining support work. Then just have a button that allows “visualize supports” and then show all the stalks and bracing etc. I’m pretty sure this would make placing custom supports a whole lot easier and draw more customers to this great platform. Makes sense, right?
I also seem to recall updating the app once and losing my printer and resin profiles. That sucked as I had several dozen to rebuild. Hasn’t happened again…yet.
Still…this is a great iPad compatible slicer. Many thanks to the developer.

Thank you for your great review! I've implemented a first version of your suggestion and there's now a toggle once in "Place Supports"-mode, that switches all supports to small cones when either actively placing a support or editing one. I will iterate on this feature more in the future, but I needed to get out a bug-fix with version 4.0.1 as there was a small issue with the support placement "lens". I'm really sorry about the printer profiles, that obviously shouldn't happen. Now that I have my own little server running in the background, I'll add backups of printer profiles/materials in a future release. Please let me know if you have any other ideas for improvements or encountered bugs. Especially to improve the workflow between Pikaslice and Shapr3D. There's also a feedback button from version 4.0 on, that makes this super easy to do. The new version is rolling out in the nest couple of days and might require visiting the App Store page of the app to trigger a manual update.
