Inaccurate count

It is supposed to count pills it adds extra pills, that defeats the purpose of the app.

Slow, glitchy

I use it because it is helpful, but I would never buy a subscription because it is slow to open and I would never reward that behavior

Response from developer

Hello, this is MedCounter. The reason we implemented sign-in in this update is to identify users for premium features such as removing ads. However, we prioritize protecting your privacy, and any data collected through sign-in is only used to manage your premium status. We understand that sign-in may feel unnecessary for some users, and we are always exploring ways to improve the app experience. Thank you for your understanding

Fastest real time counter out there

Real time counting was fixed in an update! I can now count within a matter of seconds by opening my phone and hovering over the objects.

Old version is a lot better

With every updated version that you released your app gets worst. This app counts everything now, even my finger as a pill a piece of paper from far away as a pill. The old version doesn’t do this. The old app only counts pills! Can you please revert back to the old version?

Great app

So thankful for this app. I count meds part time and no way I could handle it without this app. Thank u!

Response from developer

Hello, this is PillScan. Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that the app is helping you with your work. Thank you for using PillScan!

Good app, another bad idea

I just want to open the app, aim, count, and close the app.

The app does the job well. But it’s slow because it requires sign-in or bypassing an ad to use.

That takes 30-40 seconds. 6 months ago, the same thing took 3 seconds. The change is terrible.

The new name is also silly. Med Counter was actually a great name.

Good app, another bad update

I just want to open the app, aim, count, and close the app. The newest update requires sign-in to use. I don’t want tracking through a sign-in. I would never pay for an app that tracks my use.

In response to the response by the developer, it is not necessary for users to be identified.

Look at Overcast (a podcast app). Subscribers pay the App Store and a token is generated that the app can verify; subscribers can turn off ads within the app.

Overcast doesn’t need or keep a list of the users or their email addresses; Apple does the work. It maintains the records.

You should follow that model. It would allow you to generate a source of revenue while not annoying paying and non-paying users.

Because right now, with thirty seconds wasted every day to sign-in and you maintaining a record of users, I just won’t pay.

And I’m certain that the popularity of your app will shrink, because you’re now wasting our time with signing in.

Good app, another bad update

I just want to open the app, aim, count, and close the app. Clicking around while doing work slows me down. The developer has been in touch, promising an improved version in the future.

New information: I will give the developer a week to fix it before changing my rating.

The problem is that the newest update requires sign-in to use. I don’t want tracking through a sign-in. That can compromise safety by sharing the quantity and type of medication that I count.

Take a picture

Can you please consider allowing the user to press the camera button and having the app take a screenshot right away then saving the image to my camera roll? Right now I have to press the camera button then I press the red icon to take a image (too many steps) then the image disappears and I cannot save it.

Thank you.

Good app, bad update

I liked the app before the recent update with the added photo option. I just want to open the app, aim, count, and close the app. Clicking around while doing work slows me down.

Even worse

Well, I didn’t think it could get worse….but alas, it did. Reverting back to the old version with the newest update now results in even more glitches and just black screens 50-75% of the time. Freezes constantly and have to completely close out of the app and open back up each time. I’m so sad to see the perfect app gone due to updates 😭

Latest update was terrible

Please switch back to previous version. The new “take a picture” feature is way slower and laggy. I get frequent miscounts now. Unusable after the update.

Response from developer

Hello, this is MedCounter. We sincerely apologize for the issues caused by the recent update. We have listened to your feedback and have restored the real-time mode of the previous version. We are working hard to improve the user experience and appreciate your patience. Thank you for your valuable feedback.

Another app ruined by an update

How did the video mode get ruined so horribly? It was working completely fine before the update, and now it’s even worse at distinguishing between pills that are touching.

Response from developer

Hello, this is MedCounter. Thank you for your valuable feedback. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the video mode. We regret that it took us some time to resolve the issue. We've now fixed the problem and restored the stable real-time mode from the previous version. The update has been applied, and you should notice improved app performance. If you have any further questions or comments, please don't hesitate to let us know. We hope you enjoy the improved version and thank you again for your support.

Update is horrible. 5 stars for before update

I’m giving 5 stars because of how amazing this app was BEFORE the update. I can’t find anything like it. I would gladly pay $9.99 to have it back the way it was and without ads. The real-time updating camera mode had no lag and proved again and again to be extremely reliable. I hope this gets fixed soon or the bad reviews will keep coming.

Hello, this is MedCounter. Thank you for your valuable feedback. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We are happy to inform you that we have restored the previous real-time mode that you thought was reliable. The latest update has been released and the issue you were experiencing in video mode should be resolved. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to resolve this issue. Please let us know if you have any additional feedback or if you encounter any other issues. Thanks again for your support.

Please go back to the old version

Please go back to the old version where you don’t have to take a photo. This takes so much more time, which we don’t have if we are using this app. Looks like the video mode is like the old version, but that mode has a ridiculous lag time, making it unusable. Also it is 10x slower and more glitchy. This is definitely a downgrade, not an upgrade. I can’t imagine this app being useful anymore, so I guess I will look elsewhere. This was the perfect app before todays update. Please at least give the option to go back to the older version!

Was good until update

Update with photo is terrible. Previous version gave a quick immediate count.

Image capture

Great app! Can you add a button that will take a picture and save it to the camera roll?

Response from developer

Hello, this is MedCounter. Your suggestion to add a feature that allows users to take a picture and save it to the camera roll is a really useful idea. We believe this feature could benefit many of our users. Our team will actively consider implementing this. Thank you!
