The best app
So useful- doc website isn’t the easiest to navigate but this makes finding / planning / packing for walks or tramps so easy!
Not user friendly
Downloaded this now as someone suggested it, using a diff app for my hikes. It's not very user friendly, and needs you to take time to understand how to use it. I still cant figure put how to start the trail. Going back to my other app for my hike.
Don’t leave home without it!
First time I’ve used the app in anger and it was super helpful. From planning gear to mapping the route, the app was pivotal in ensuring things went to plan. Definitely recommend this app if you’re new to tramping or an old hand, it’s got something to offer everyone.
ONLY WAY IN NZ
I use All trails around the world but in NZ I have and still continue to only use this app! It’s so well informed, has my emergency contacts and lets DOC know I’m in the area. It’s really well done and I feel more confident knowing I have updated my plan across multiple people
Should have the option to download tracks as .gpx
Otherwise everything else is great

Good but doesn't load without internet connection
I like this app for researching walks before I head out in the bush.
However if I want to research a new route while out in the bush I cannot as the app won't load when there's no internet connection.

Reviews as well as DoC and council tracks - amazing
Love that this isn’t just DOC tracks, but also council tracks and more, plus automatic weather updates and track alerts when it changes ahead of my trip so I don’t have to keep going back to a bunch of websites to check frequently. This doesn’t all for me 😁

Great but needs a few tweaks
This is a great app for those wanting to look at different tracks in NZ but there are somethings that make it very annoying.
One is that it seems to log you out most of the time - no reason for it.
Another is that if you have turned off notifications it will CONSTANTLY prompt you to turn them on. Just annoying.
Another i have found is that some tracks do not load when you are viewing them on the map. it will state the name and thats it. either there is no link option to bring that track up or it doesn’t have one.
Also the track description can be vague. inclines etc are mostly not supplied. I find another app better for this as it gives a side elevation of the track.
There is plenty of other details that are supplied which is a huge benefit.
The app can be a bit jumpy as well when navigating around the app.

So it seems ok but (and this might be me missing something) there does not seem to be elevation on hike summary when planned and no facility to upload to Garmin?
Overall a bit clunky and not user friendly. Reverted to my normal route planning apps.

Useful easy to use
Found the app easy to use and helped in deciding between a couple of options, good up to-date info on hikes that are open.
Great Hiking App
I love this app! It has made finding new tracks, gear lists and planning a trip safely so easy. Highly recommend to anyone considering a hike short or long in NZ. I look forward to creating my own route next.

Love this app, very useful tool to help support outdoor adventure.
Still needs a couple of UI/UX updates like when you create custom route and select back, it takes you back to the Home Screen rather than into the planning section. You then need try and find your custom route in your menu then start planning.

Very Useful App
Great place to start when planning a tramp or walk. It’s easy to create a trip plan and then share it with a safety contact so you don’t need to email them all the info. Gear list is another useful function, as is the custom track feature.
