Very Great Free Option

Honestly not too much to complain about since the app is free. It does suck that there is a daily limit of 2 for the manual type up and photo scan, but at least you can log previous meals.

Very inaccurate

This app is pretty terrible. Using the barcode scanner, it finds things but the nutritional info is completely wrong. Even if it’s right, after adding the food to a meal, it completely changes the nutritional info it initially showed. I didn’t even try the AI scanner but if the barcode scanner is this bad I have no faith in the ai image scanner

Accuracy

I like the interface of the app and the fact that I can enter manually, however the Ai photo feature is very inaccurate, only gets it right if you weight it correctly. For some reason chat got told me at some point it’s the most accurate app but it’s not saying that anymore lol

User JA

Really surprised me how good and easy this is, so far absolutely excellent have done this as was considering weight loss jabs but this was a last ditch attempt instead and so far it’s really helping.

All around great app!

This is the most accurate ai calorie tracker on the market. It has everything you could want, calorie counting, macro tracking, fasting timer, water intake reminders, a surprisingly good ai coach, and plenty more.

I enjoy the manual entry and voice entry over the photo tool! (Nothing wrong with the photo tool, I just like typing what I’m cooking as I go) The daily score is a great way to keep tabs on your overall eating habits for the day, it has been great motivation!

To add to the great app, the customer support is truly second to none. I reached out regarding special discounts. Not only did they accommodate the discount. They responded quickly and were more than helpful with all my questions and needs!

I hope they keep this app going strong! I could really see this taking over the calorie counting market!

Dissatisfied and being refused correspondence about a refund.

I am extremely dissatisfied with the PlateLens customer service. I have emailed support 3 times and have not received a single response, despite the website promising a response within 24 hours. The $80 charge for a year subscription went through without the promised notification at the end of the free trial. I would like to be refunded as I am dissatisfied the accuracy of the app and with my experience and do not want the year subscription.

So disappointing

I found this app and was so excited to be able to log my food from a photo. It was frustrating right from the start. It would not let me accurately log my current weight or my goal weight. I could go a pound or 2 up or a pound or 2 down. Then the app glitched and did not save so I had to start my profile all over. I then snapped my first meal- bacon and eggs. Easy enough, right? Nope, it calculated 407 calories when the actual total was 286. I don’t expect an exact science but a difference of 121 calories is quite a bit for 2 items widely known items. I found the AI coach annoying. So it’s been deleted.

Such a very reasonable app too literally have in yo pocket.

100%

Almost perfect

I write "almost" because some informations are difficult to read due to the black background and the text being a color that doesn't stand out well against it. But otherwise, the app's performance is perfect. I hope an update will fix this minor flaw.

So Close

I really like this app but find it is unnecessarily frustrating. The AI never remembers that I am American and need imperial measurements no matter how many times I remind it. There is no option to save favorites so every time I make a latte in the morning, I need to remind it what ingredients I use with what ratios…. Every single time. Also it gives messages that I’ve eaten too much but “tomorrow is another day” as though the day is a lost cause the moment I log breakfast and lunch. It’s demoralizing when I’m actually doing fine and will make my goals at the end of the day.

Response from developer

Hi Lizzie — thanks for the detailed review, this is the kind of feedback that drives real fixes. Quick update on each point: 1. Imperial units in the coach We shipped a backend fix this week. The AI now sees your weight and target in lbs across the chat context and the weight history tools — no more reminders needed. Should kick in on your next coach conversation. 2. "Tomorrow is another day" appearing too early You were right, this was a bug. The compassion message was meant for end-of-day, not midday. We just gated it correctly so it only appears late in the day when it actually makes sense. 3. Saving favorites for your morning latte Good news here: this already works, just isn't obvious. Tap the + button → "Log a previous meal" (the ⟳ refresh icon). Anything you've logged before — including your latte with the exact ingredients and ratios — is one tap away. The "Frequency" sort puts your most-logged items at the top. We're also adding explicit ⭐ pinning so you can lock favorites at the top regardless of frequency — shipping next. Really appreciate the patience. The two backend fixes were driven by your feedback this week. — PlateLens team

App isn’t actually free

after the setup it forces you to pay a overpriced subscription

It’s really good

I thought it would cost money and it doesn’t wow and it even has ai to help u feel accomplished and motivated to exercise and get eat healthy i would recommend this app for however is trying to lose weight and gain muscle

Can’t log multiple days

AI tool is ok, not overly accurate. The most frustrating is you can’t log ahead. And many of the barcodes I scanned didn’t work. MFP is far superior.

Great app but I would humbly request two things

I switched from CalAI to this based on accuracy ratings. I feel it is way more accurate. I would like to see a larger database for the barcode scanner as about half the time it says product not found. These were simple scans like Almonds or a small cup of Häagen-Dazs. Not very exotic items. What I would like to see the ability to take an “after” picture of my meal. I seldom finish the whole thing and it would be cool to show how much was left and have the app deduct those calories. Thank you.

Generally Inaccurate

I’m disappointed that every time I scan a barcode, the exact nutritional information does not come up and I often have to edit it. I also find the calorie burning widget to calculate erroneously.

Frustrating

There has not been a single instance where I’ve logged a meal or an exercise without needing to manually correct or recalculate the information provided. I chose this app to simplify tracking my calorie deficit, but instead, I find myself putting in more effort than when I was using much more basic tools. I emailed customer support and have not received and response or resolution.

Great)

It definitely changes my eating habits and helps me genuinely so much on my mental eating! I used to binge eat a bunch of garbage every day now I can genuinely prep my food take photos and use it to help count everything. Unfortunately the only downside is I have to pay for it sadly..

Good

Good

Keeps me motivated

I’ve used several calorie tracking apps in the past, this one stands out. The AI coach is especially helpful in keeping me motivated and on track. I appreciate being able to ask for meal ideas and how to rebalance balance my macros when I’m off track. It’s a supportive practical tool for maintaining consistency.

Very comprehensive and easy to use.

The app easily captures all food intake and gives good suggestions on how to improve health.
