I don’t get it

I’ve been trying to figure out how I can use this in my music production but it doesn’t seem to fit in. It does what it says it does but idk if it’s done well. I just wish it would actually make nice beats when you randomize so I could use something original but no matter how much I edit the beat it still kind of sounds the same but worse. At the very least it should make decent sounding beats and not just random sounding beats.

Day 1

I have a list of things that make this app a chore to use, but I guess the top one would be that sometimes it just won’t open. (Air 5)

I experienced a crash with Playbeat & AUM

I could be just how I get down.

Extremely Fun, Just needs a little more polish

I have been having lots of fun with this app making drum beats with my own sounds. It just needs a few things to be over the top for me and usable for real on IOS:

1) Ability to name each sound - the numbers are cool, but it gets confusing trying to remember which sound was where and read the tiny text on the sample name (and this is on a 12" ipad). Little icons for each sound type would be cool too.

2) Export all 8 audio files at once, or at least a zip file. Exporting a single sound is tedious and the app names every sound the same thing, so you have to stop and rename each sound if you want to export all the drums to the same folder.

3) Multi-instrument out for recording midi/audio into Logic. If I can't export all my sounds at once, I have to be able to record them in separately so I can adjust levels, eq, etc. This requires either a multi-midi or multi-audio (preferably both) instance to be available.

I love the UI and found the app pretty responsive, though it did freeze up on me a couple times. It feels like this was meant to be a teaser for the desktop apps. I have to admit it was it working for me as I considered buying the desktop suite after using chordjam, but then the limitations on this app kind of killed the momentum for me. Ipad music-making is obviously a thing now, so there is no good reason to water-down an app because its on ipad.

High-quality sound, low usability

Playbeat 3 has excellent sample backs and punches up in the mix. Additionally, the AI generation is really fun to tweak, just like other AudioModern apps.

My 2 biggest complaints:

1. No audio multi-out. Feels like a must with any drum app, to be able to properly mix and master the output. Having multiple instances for each drum is CPU heavy and ruins the point of the generative app.

2. UI is buggy. Menus flicker over each other, scrolling through presets is very difficult since the app prioritizes dragging samples, and the app crashes often in AUM.
