I don’t get it

I’ve been trying to figure out how I can use this in my music production but it doesn’t seem to fit in. It does what it says it does but idk if it’s done well. I just wish it would actually make nice beats when you randomize so I could use something original but no matter how much I edit the beat it still kind of sounds the same but worse. At the very least it should make decent sounding beats and not just random sounding beats.

Day 1

I have a list of things that make this app a chore to use, but I guess the top one would be that sometimes it just won’t open. (Air 5)

I experienced a crash with Playbeat & AUM

I could be just how I get down.

Extremely Fun, Just needs a little more polish

I have been having lots of fun with this app making drum beats with my own sounds. It just needs a few things to be over the top for me and usable for real on IOS:

1) Ability to name each sound - the numbers are cool, but it gets confusing trying to remember which sound was where and read the tiny text on the sample name (and this is on a 12" ipad). Little icons for each sound type would be cool too.

2) Export all 8 audio files at once, or at least a zip file. Exporting a single sound is tedious and the app names every sound the same thing, so you have to stop and rename each sound if you want to export all the drums to the same folder.

3) Multi-instrument out for recording midi/audio into Logic. If I can't export all my sounds at once, I have to be able to record them in separately so I can adjust levels, eq, etc. This requires either a multi-midi or multi-audio (preferably both) instance to be available.

I love the UI and found the app pretty responsive, though it did freeze up on me a couple times. It feels like this was meant to be a teaser for the desktop apps. I have to admit it was it working for me as I considered buying the desktop suite after using chordjam, but then the limitations on this app kind of killed the momentum for me. Ipad music-making is obviously a thing now, so there is no good reason to water-down an app because its on ipad.

High-quality sound, low usability

Playbeat 3 has excellent sample backs and punches up in the mix. Additionally, the AI generation is really fun to tweak, just like other AudioModern apps.

My 2 biggest complaints:

1. No audio multi-out. Feels like a must with any drum app, to be able to properly mix and master the output. Having multiple instances for each drum is CPU heavy and ruins the point of the generative app.

2. UI is buggy. Menus flicker over each other, scrolling through presets is very difficult since the app prioritizes dragging samples, and the app crashes often in AUM.

Nice app, where’s the real drums?

This is a useful tool, especially the ‘smart’ function. It’s easy to use, easy to get something out of with minimal effort, and versatile enough to allow those blessed with creativity to indulge themselves. What it lacks, are any acoustic / analog real world drum sounds. A few packs front he good old days of Ringo and Keith bashing away at skins would add a whole new dimension to Playbeat 3. What say you, developers, any chance?

Thanks for your feedback, more expansions are coming soon, stay tuned ✌️

This is the best rhythm and drum generator that exists

I have tried everything from Jamstix to BFD to Tooontrack and nothing comes close to what kind of AI rhythm generating this app does. I got it as a birthday gift to expand my horizons, especially in Drambo, and it works perfectly. It is a fresh and easy to use UI, a great and powerful randomizer that really sounds amazing every change, it has AI that follows you to see what you prefer in patterns, and then generates that. All I can say is musicians who need good drum patterns because they either have no access to drummers or knowledge of good drum generating or rhythm writing, this is the app for you. I can’t tell you how amazed I am at the customer service. Max is especially awesome for his help and super fast response. I highly recommend this app as well as supporting AudioModern’s other apps - their suite is very sweet!

Excellent Groove Randomizer

So far so good, I just bought the iOS version and am putting it through the paces. Will update, soon )

Great grooves and beats, UI meh

I love this beat maker and it’s at the top of my list for beat creation and mixing thing up but the UI leaves a lot to be desired for me. Difficult to read if you’re let’s say performing and don’t have the iPad at face level, which means sitting. Maybe not intended for live performance but even rehearsing it can be challenging to navigate on the fly. User Presets can be difficult to find because all imported packs become user presets and the scroll bar for windows is typically small with no two finger scroll; I constantly unintentionally open or drag presets every which way just trying to navigate basic windows. The color scheme is okay, but I would say it hurts more than helps. Things can be hard to find. The color is so uniform. Having multiple skins would greatly aid users eyeballs.

Again I love the actual function of this app, the design overall is likable but with a few UI tweaks it could be really indispensable. Thank you AudioModern!

I give this app 4 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m reserving the 5th star for the next update if they meet my requests. Best drum app & sequencer on iPad. Great beat starter for drums, percussion & sounds.I like the ease of use and the ability to save presets and recall them later for use. This is now my favorite drum app for creating patterns and rhythms in seconds on iPad hands down. It meets all my needs for getting ANY beat going with the new smart randomization algorithm. Use your own sounds or get there four FREE expansion packs. They also allow you to make your own expansions. 💭

***Next Update Must Have*** 👀🔜

-Add 64/128 steps (at 140 BPM no room for getting a rhythm going, only 1 bar).

-Add the ability to play/cycle thru the presets & create complete ideas.🆕

-Add the ability to save multiple presets in a preset to recall for song arrangement.🆕

-Add 16 sounds to fill my drum machine/ midi controller (complete a full beat/loop)🆕

-Add the ability to save a template to increase the work flow. (Drums ready for me)🆕

-Add the ability to save my midi mapping for each controller.🎹🆕

Magical Rhythm

I can't believe this, just an incredible addition to my workflow on iPad. Really completes the whole bundle with Riffer and Chordjam - gets a jam going and basically removes any hint of writers block. 10/10 one of the best apps I have tried all year, and I've barely scratched the surface!

Excellent

This instrument sounds superb ,is simple to use and it is very very creative . If I could I would give 10 stars with clusters and all for the price of a cinema ticket and some wine gums 🙏🏿🙏👏👍🎩

Very good

Creating quick beats is easy!

Vast improvement on the Original

8 lanes instead of 4 and much better midi implementation.

2 things I would like

1. the ability to drag and drop samples from say Samplecrate

2. More sample packs

Innovative Drum Sequencer

Complete game changer from versions 1 and 2. There are so many new features that it’s almost unrecognisable, but still conceptually familiar. I love it!
