Gross

Nothing loads. The app constantly crashes. No search. Who green-lit this horrendous app? Is the testing team a sock full of spiders? Is Stevie Wonder moonlighting as an app designer?

NO SEARCH FUNCTION

This is absolutely useless with no search function.

Potential

Nowhere near as bad as the reviews say. It’s barebones, but it is a way to view your photos/videos remotely while honouring your organisation and metadata. Would love to see more developer attention paid to it, but it’s perfectly serviceable in its current state.

The Forgotten App

One year later and still no update. Pretty pathetic that you have to take a screenshot of the photo in order to save to your phone! Forget about watching videos in landscape mode, the app repeatedly crashes.

Why another app to download?

Why do you keep making more apps for what was already working fine? Are we going to have an app for every library next? Why not at least make an app for the live tv and music service you are hoping will save your company, so that trash doesn’t appear in the part that people actually use?

No Features

This app can show pictures in a Plex library. That’s it. Nothing else. You can’t share, download, markup, or do anything with the pictures. It’s a stupid, useless app and should never have been removed from the main Plex app if they weren’t going to add more features.

Plex design

Buggy app, not a lot of options. Due for a redesign with Liquid Glass.

Can’t download photos, not features at all

Can’t download photos? Nothing is in this app, rubbish phase 1 mvp from 1989

Plex Developers Need to Trash This App

5/15/26 Update: No updates to this app in 11 months, and it is less functional than ever. You cannot even download or share your photos from the app!
—————————
Horrible decision by Plex to remove access to photo libraries from the main app.

I don’t want a second app just for photos. The original Plex app was good. It is beyond stupid to force your users to download something else just to access their photo libraries.

If you want another app… FINE, but don’t take functionality AWAY from the main Plex app.

Greed Prevails

I’ve been a user since 2012. In the time i’ve used Plex there was definitely a golden age. But it’s obvious that whoever took the reins in the last few years is festering with greed. They seemed to have forgotten their roots. This app is evidence of that.

You can’t even download your own photos/videos in full res. You’re reduced to screenshotting or going thru your physical machine where those files are hosted

An embarrassment

Shockingly poor photo app, you’ve destroyed Plex ecosystem with this.
You can’t even view a photo full screen or full size without a ridiculous bar blocking the top of the picture.
What an abandoned disaster this app is 🤦🏻‍♂️

Not Enough

I was actually fine with Plex splitting out the content to different apps as long as we were gonna get better support. This app in particular has a lot of bugs with displaying and loading photos and mainly videos. I moved my photos out of Plex and switched to a different solution.

This app sucks

Please fix this app. Kids can vibe code Facebook clone these days. This is the worst photos app I have ever seen

Useless

Plex Photos is still utterly useless as I am still prevented from being able to download my own images from my own storage via Plex Photos. This was possible when photos were part of the main Plex app, for some bizarre this feature was removed from the Plex Photos spin-off app, seemingly never to return. Plex Photos is a failure by Plex, it needs to be scrapped, with photos being reintegrated into the main Plex app.

Could be way better

I should be able to download my media like on the main app and share it. Very inconvenient compared to the base app.

No save photo as or send to feature

The new stand alone plex photos app doesn’t allow you to download a copy of a photo or enable the send to (email, or messages, etc) feature. This shouldn’t be a hard feature to include. The old all in one plex app had it as I recall.

Prime example of a company that takes something that works perfectly fine & changes it for no reason

This app is completely useless for me. Remotely & locally. Useless.
The original app worked perfectly fine and then the big brains decided to separate them into their own apps.

Exploring other media servers as we speak….

Beyond embarrassing

Every time I open the app it thinks my server is offline, even though the main app is able to connect without a problem. As someone who works on an enterprise mobile app for my job, it’s unacceptable that the app is as bad as it is and there hasn’t been a single update in 9 months.

No slideshow?

Great app. Works well but there’s no slideshow function - why?
