You need a good connection.
Not perfect, but the best I’ve found thus far. They are about to kill the company however with mega price hikes. Hopefully they’ll see sense and stop asking for money. Needs more functionality like song radios and the ability to veto artists or albums from shuffle and radios.

Great little app
It's been a joy to listen to all my ripped music. Plex amp makes it convenient and fun. I'm running it from a SynologyNAS which has been extremely stable. I would highly recommend IT skills, tutorials or help to get setup right.

Randomly it seems to be unable to find music in my library that doesn’t have an artist tag even if it’s in a well structured artist/album directory, and doesn’t even show a blank or incorrect entry like it would with a poorly organized movie, so it’s hard to tell from my whole collection what is broken.
I am also apparently unable to remove the ai related functionality that I will never use from the search tab.
Not annoyed enough yet to find an alternative but I wish failures to find and catalog audio files was louder

The world is better with Plex
I have been using Plex and Plexmedia server for a number of years. Why did it take me so long to start using Plexamp. Love it! What a great way to reconnect with my lifelong collection of music.

Happy I bought the lifetime pass before the prices went up. Nice to have control back over my larger library, and not feel lime I’m held hostage by apple’s closed system.

Great app, does pretty much what you would want it to do and more. One thing I do request though is integration with Waze.

It takes forever to get the remote access functioning. Usually have to reset it about once an hour.. and keet hitting “try again” untill it us working again.

Plexamp really takes all the benefits of selfhosting your music library and adds on all the benefits we’ve all come accustomed to with streaming, and then some!
The UI is great and intuitive, the mixes (while sadly locked behind a plex pass) are the best no-setup auto playlists out there. The settings let you customize everything to be exactly how you want it. The headless player / Caldera works better than Sonos and integrates with Music Assistant.
My only remaining qualm is that there isn’t an easy way to have shared playlists with your family or friends that you share your library with. While I made a basic workaround with python, it’d be great if it were a regular feature supported by the app / Plex ecosystem

I purchased the app with the promise I’d only have to it once and never worry about it again - then they forced me to update to a different app and discontinued the one I paid for. Now they want me to buy a plex pass instead

Previous: Love the app, love Plex… but this app could really use automatic offline feature so I don’t have to rely on cellular data in areas that don’t have great reception, as well as generally draining battery a lot more vs playing locally. I have a 512GB iPhone for these reasons. Would love to be able to stream on some devices but also have it locally stored, say for my device or a device that only connects to Wi-Fi.
