Lagging
Really useful, just slow
Works great!
Please update
Response from developer
We did update it (and as soon as we possibly could), hope you do like the changes now. If something specific comes up, please let us know via the support function - like this is it is hard to understand the problems occuring worldwide and to work on them. Polearn we had to move on from due to new technical requirements of the Apple and Google app store, which was frustrating for us too but we took it as a chance to bring more and very renowned instructors in. We try to improve the app constantly as well and fast as we can - which is limited/slower, compared to big companies ofc, especially with constantly changing requirements. Anyway. Things should be better now, please check it out.
Very slow
The most frustrating thing is the slow loading time for basically anything. I’m a software developer myself and I know it’s not that hard to encrypt your videos and cache them locally to improve performance.
I really want to like this app but until there’s significant improvement on speed, I think I’ll stick to instagram and YouTube.

Hi Justin! Thank you for taking the time to give us helpful feedback, that is so appreciated. Mostly the app is meant as a tool for inspiration and as a library - but we also are reworking the step-by-step instructions right now, to make them go into more details. Additionally all new tutorials we will be uploaoding will have an audio breakdown. Regarding the slow loading: There is some background that makes it unfortunately a little more complicated to cache videos locally - buuut that being said, if you wanna reach out to see if you have any insights that would improve the performance, by all means, maybe this is an opportunity to get together. Ofc YouTube and Instagram have their perks. But it is not supporting the Pole community, especially Instructors in the same way, so if you can reconsider and give us an other shot, maybe even talk to us personally, that would be great. All the best + ty again!
Doesn’t work
Response from developer
Hi! Sorry to hear it - it would mean the world, if you could reach out to us, when something like that happens to you, so that we know and can work on it. That's what the support is for and we ofc want to fix everything. That being said, the newest update might have helped already, feel free to check things out (:
Enjoying!
Fantastic, helpful App
A little annoyed.
Personally I won’t bother buying anything in any app unless I get to try it first and see if it’s quality or crap. They do offer a couple free video which is great. They were short just a minute or 2 long but that’s ok I just wanted to see how they broke things down and explained the different moves. I am very detailed oriented I learn best when every move is explained in detail before I try it myself. This way I understand why my body needs to be doing what its doing. If that makes sense. However I couldn’t get the sound to come on. I thought it was just me n tried many different things to get it to work. But no luck then I realized it won’t work not until you subscribe! So what’s the point in having a couple free videos to let people try it out but they can’t even hear it!!!!!! No thanks I’ll use YouTube!

Hi luvslily2, thank you for giving us a full description of your thought process. :) Your assumption was not right though. Whether you have sound on a video or not is not dependant on whether you are a free user or not. It is a choice of the specific Instructor on how they want to teach things and we have various kinds of videos, some with sound, some without, you can recognize that by the little speaker-icon (crossed out or not) in the overview screens and also the detail view of the tutorial. Since we wanted to have an app that is accessible to everyone, also deaf and hard-of-hearing people, people who are not fluent in English, we didn't want to rely on sound exclusively and every tutorial comes with a written step-by-step instruction. Again, if you prefer sound, the videos by Natasha Wang or Mia & Kayla might be the right ones for you, they always come with verbal instructions. Some people again, prefer to just have a short video to look Moves up and make it work without sound, so for example when on the train, in a pole studio etc. Hope that makes sense to you - please feel free to always reach out to us via hello@notthemainstream.net and give us input, feedback or resolve problems.♥
