Location saving is awful
The UX design of this and the predict wind is terrible. I have a subscription so I muscle through it but having to save your location before getting the data you need is a pain. Just give me the data from my current location or a location I choose. Why do I always need to save a location before the app can give be any data. Terrible. Also the app doesn’t work. Just takes 39 seconds to load and just goes to a black screen.

Never has Wind, current, wave or tide info. Just shows unavailable ALWAYS. Don’t spend your money.
Seems to be very accurate
After 3 weeks of diving in the Philippines, so far it has always matched the actual current at the dive site. Gives me a sense of safety!

Doesn’t quite make it
This app has great potential but doesn’t quite make it yet. I am writing from the point of view of a sea kayaker so close-to-the-coast coverage is important. The 400m setting doesn’t give sufficient tidal current information close to the coast. The 100m setting is potentially very useful but, at the moment, only covers a very limited amount of coastline (in the UK only the Solent). Moreover, the 100m setting only gives information up until 11am the next day. If the 100m option gave information for the whole of the next day, I would subscribe.
Each current forecast covers 36 hours and is issued at midnight GMT (at least for UK). This means that the forecast only covers the morning of the following day so tidal planning for the following day is not possible.

Rocky start
I’ve been using Windy for current info but thought I would try this since I like PresictWind. When I went to set up a location around my current position I got an error message that says
“Unable to Add Location
There is no current data available at this location. Try a location that is not on land, or is in deeper water.”
I’m 800 miles south of Hawaii in 24,000 feet of water. How much deeper do you want?

This app is so cool with the detailed currents hour-by-hour. I’m just checking it out for the free trial. It seems worthless without paying for the full app. I might use it seasonally during paddling season. It’s really cool to nerd out at this level in the San Juan archipelago

The whole app feels vibe coded and insecure. You need an account just to check the current... When you try to make an account it does not save the password in their database correctly so you cannot login. Please filter out characters you can't handle if you are going to force people to create accounts. Which is very silly. Just use uuid
