not worth it

if you have to pay for the app to use it accordingly to what is advertised you should just have to pay for not it be free and then when you try and add something it tries to make you pay to use it.

Okay App, Scanner Doesn’t Work

I was looking for an application for pregnancy food tracking that was similar to the way Noom is set up for weight loss. I came across this app and while it has good information and tracks some things, it’s very hard to enter the food you eat and get any accuracy on the dietary values. For example, I scanned a milk carton, and while the milk came up, it said it was only 63 cal (actually 150 per serving) and all of the proteins, fats, etc. were off. I tried several different food items and it never got a single one right. So I’m left with doing talk to text and adding each and every dietary value per food item in one by. Not the end of the world, but definitely a lot longer process to simply add food that you eat in a days time. I will probably switch to Noom to get accurate food, entry and dietary values because I never had an issue with that app.

Front

The front is white and the background is white. The color needs to be updated. A little confusing on how to use at first.

Response from developer

Hi, thanks for the feedback. It looks like you were using the app in Dark Mode, which PregnancyPlate isn’t designed to support due to the brand colour system. This is why the text appeared white. PregnancyPlate is intended to be used in Light Mode. The latest update now locks the interface to Light Mode to avoid this confusion.

So far unusable, at least as a free version

The text boxes are white on white and you can’t read what you type. There isn’t a way to enter calories without scanning a label. Basically useless

Response from developer

Hi, thank you for your feedback. It appears the app was being used in Dark Mode. PregnancyPlate is designed to be used in Light Mode because of the brand colour system, which is why some text may have appeared white and difficult to read. In the latest update we have now locked the interface to Light Mode to avoid this confusion going forward. We would also like to clarify that calories and nutrition values can always be entered and edited manually inside the Meal Diary — scanning a label is optional and not required. Hundreds of mums are currently using PregnancyPlate happily throughout their pregnancy journeys, but we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and will continue improving the app.

Not a Fan of the Unreadable Text

The unreadable text on the home page and when entering or editing entries makes this app nearly unusable. I would also prefer to have a dark mode on the home page, not just the reports page.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. PregnancyPlate is used daily by hundreds of mums and we have not received widespread reports of the issue described. Text visibility and data fields function normally across supported devices. If you are experiencing something unusual on your specific device, please contact our support team with a screenshot so we can take a closer look. We are continuously improving the app and have additional updates and features arriving in the next release. We wish you all the best on your pregnancy journey.

Considerations before purchasing

I purchased this app thinking it would be helpful but very hard to see what you are typing in the free text area due to font colors that I can’t seem to change. I added something to my favorites and it completely wiped the micros when it’s my prenatal vitamin (definitely has folate, DHA, etc.). I have to manually change mostly everything when I scan, which is very time consuming. Even after it got it wrong when I first scanned them, I made the edit and it didn’t save the edit. Honestly keeping a personal food journal for free will probably have the same impact as paying for this app. Very disheartening.

Update: the developer contact support was very helpful in analyzing my problem and providing the appropriate support. This app is currently not compatible with “dark mode” on phone settings

Hi, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are really sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience. We would love to help resolve this, because what you described isn’t how the app is intended to work. The text styling uses high-contrast colors for readability, and nutrient data should not be removed when items are added to favourites. Edits should also save automatically once applied. Sometimes issues like this can happen if a scan doesn’t fully process or if there’s a temporary sync problem. If you’re open to it, please contact support through the app so we can look into your specific case and help you get everything working properly we genuinely want you to have a smooth experience. Thank you again for your feedback, it helps us keep improving.

it’s okay but not what I needed

it’s fine, I did like that it will give suggestions on how to optimize nutrition when logging your meal. BUT you can’t see that feedback other than when logging that meal, you also cannot log a meal/snack from the previous day. I also noticed that when I typed in the same exact meal I had previously it had different macros/nutritional values.

I like it buttttt

I’ve been using the app for a couple days now and I’ve noticed that the DHA nutrition, part only tracks fish intake. I’ve been eating Chia seeds and eggs that have DHA. And it seems the only track my DHA intake for literal fish oil, which is not true so I’m trying to track it. But the AI is not giving an actual representation of like any Dha I’m getting. And then secondly there is a design, flaw or glitch, where the coloring of letters is white on white so that you can’t even see what’s written there to make options or selections hopefully that was fixed with the update

Is not working

I downloaded the free trial and I wanna pay for it and every time I try to take a picture or ask a question it swipes up saying I need to purchase it when I already did. I deleted the app. I re-downloaded it and it will not let me use!
