Prism MIDI Sequencer User Reviews

Top reviews

Avoid. No useful documentation/manual.

Do you like puzzles? Then you’ll love this app!🧩
The available documentation is perpetually out of date and inaccurate, and the in-app help is useless. Even if the documentation was accurate, it’s often not very forthcoming on details. Dev just keeps piling on more features and never documents. Just absolute negligence of a one-man shop.
It’s really too bad, because it looks to offer a lot of great features that I would love to use in making music. But I am done guessing how to make it work.
I truly don’t often give one-star reviews, but this has earned it 🏆

Phenomenal App. Sequencer🔥

While using the app I didn’t think I would love it as much as I do but it’s absolutely so good. I highly recommend it to anyone starting or trying to perfect their craft. Been using this app for a while now and decided to finally give a honest review how great this app is. Great Job 👏🏼

Requires deep dive

Make it more clear what each thing can do. If it can’t be made clear, then take it out. RFM does not help. Make a lite version for idiots like me.

Peerless

Centerpiece-level powerhouse. This artful sequencer stands out for its combination of a near-perfect touch interface with the depth and control of a great hardware unit. Reading and watching the manual is mandatory because of Prism’s unintuitive (not counterintuitive) interface, but spending a few months coming to grips with the beautiful, visionary design language and the co-functionality of the individual modules will be rewarded with a sense of refined fluency and deliberate control which stands above the fiddly, bulging translations of PC workflows which are ubiquitous in this environment. No other app that I’ve used marries this level of harmonically cohesive compositional complexity to a total elimination of prickly, insufficient touch interactions. This production paradigm is especially unparalleled on iPhone, but the core concept is worthwhile in any MIDI sequencing context. Rare bugs and quirks typical of an app in relatively early development are not nearly enough to knock Prism out of first place.

Cubasis adaptive please!

Amazing App, Erm Lots of Updates

The sequencer is amazing, when it was released it was perfect, the new features are nice, but please remember you can do multiple apps. At this point I fear this thing is on the verge of getting bloated, it’s starting to take a little more tapping to get to where I want to be sometimes now

From Eno To Aphex

The new LFO, FX, and multi-seq extensions are awesome, and half the price of what you would pay for similar standalone apps.

Prism was already inspiring and high-end. Now it’s the GOAT iOs sequencer too. Well done.

Inspired and brilliant

Every time I use this app, I get great results, even with very limited abilities. It makes me feel very inspired and I’m fascinated with getting deeper into it - every time I level up it gets more fun. I have a *lot* of iOS sequencers and for whatever reason I keep coming back to Prism again and again, and I’m never bored or uncreative when I’m in it. Great support from the developer too - he fixed bugs quickly and answered all questions and was really energized.

So good

I am really enjoying this Midi sequencer! I don’t think I’ve seen anything like this in hardware ever, some features are so inventive and inspiring. Took a little while to understand how the interface worked but so worth the effort, so much fun to be had on this thing. Both in AUM but also plug into your DAW of choice or hardware and this thing becomes even more. Well done and thank you to the developer 👏🙏🏻

Best sequencer on IOS

Bring it to Mac!

A magical box of sequencing tools

There’s nothing else like it on iOS and it’s great. It’s designed to lead you down paths that you never expected. This is not some boring sequencer where you have to do the heavy lifting, or rely on some built in presets. Make a few simple choices - a few chords, a drum pattern, and a melodic phrase and then use the transformation and dynamic variation tools to bring it alive. I’ve never used a sequencer on my iPad that more quickly sparked my creativity. Very addictive once you get into it!

P.S. - The developer has really doubled down on enhancements and fixes recently and it’s better than ever. Great support, too.

Best sequencer for iOS

This sequencer is amazing so feature and innovative feature that make producing music a breeze.

Best Sequencer on iOS

My favourite iOS sequencer. Integrates perfectly with AUv3 hosts and instruments.
Closest thing I’ve found to a certain reputable hardware sequencer brand’s workflow, but with a lot more forethought baked in for many unique scenarios. The specific polyrhythm sequencer template is super powerful and I keep finding more functions under the hood, the deeper I dive.
Genuinely can’t fault it for the role it’s trying to fill.

The only thing that would make this even better would be programmable automation, but it does what it intends to do well right now. I’d alway take a working product that does its job well, over a complicated app with less stability or user experience.

If you’re on the fence about it, it’s 100% worth the money in my opinion!

Getting better and better

An excellent sequencer from an excellent developer

I love this sequencer. Loads of creative features, and the support for various Novation Launchpads is a big bonus. On top of that continuous development, improvements and added features. A true work of love - well done!

On par with $800+ hardware

The feature set on this is amazing and offers more than many hyped up hardware sequencers. An amazing achievement as is, and I look forward to how this develops in the future.

A wonderful box of tricks

The UI is somewhat unintuative and takes some learning, but when you have grasped it, and it might take some time but when you have, there is great fun to be had within this trove of midi tools.

A fantastic midi sequencer

This power multi-channel sequencer is fun to use and sparks creativity.

The product descriptions have already presented its powerful features in details and I will not repeat here.

I have great fun to spend hours to explore its amazing capabilities. Mortal Mage has provided a series of very clear and concise videos on YouTube. I have benefited and learned a lot from those tutorials.

I am very eager to request a song mode to be created to link scenes and patterns in the future software updates.

I must, however, admit that even though without the song mode, the sequencer as of today is already very powerful and versatile. What a great creation!

Very impressive

A great start. Not quite like anything else on ios for handling midi. Endless variations from simple sequences. Very organic and spontaneous. Can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
