About
Ever wondered exactly what an app can learn about you the moment you open it? PrivacyLens shows you — using the very same public Apple APIs every app already has access to.
PrivacyLens reads real values from your own device and explains, in plain language, what each one reveals to a tracker. Nothing you see ever leaves your iPhone unless you choose to export it.
THREE LEVELS OF EXPOSURE
• Passive — Dozens of signals any app reads instantly, with no prompt and no trace: device model, screen, battery, locale, timezone, storage, memory, accessibility settings and more. On their own they look harmless. Together they form a fingerprint that follows you across apps.
• Permission-based — The data an app can read after you tap "Allow": your full contact list, every photo and its hidden GPS metadata, precise location, calendar events and reminders. One tap often grants far more than the app needs.
• Advanced — Clever-but-legal techniques: silently probing which apps you have installed, storing an identity in the Keychain that survives a reinstall, reading your clipboard, and the advertising identifier built to track you across every app.
YOUR FINGERPRINT
A dedicated screen turns your passive signals into a single SHA-256 fingerprint and shows how few details it takes to single out your exact device — no login, no shared ID.
PRIVACY FIRST
• 100% on-device. PrivacyLens has no servers and no analytics.
• No tracking, no advertising ID used by us, no third-party SDKs.
• Export is manual — your report is shared only when you tap Share, and only where you choose.
PrivacyLens is an educational tool to help you understand your device's fingerprinting surface and make better privacy choices.
