Don't do it
I couldn't get this app to work on my iPad. The release notes said I could delete and reload. The notes were wrong! Note to self AND YOU, read reviews first. I only wish two things, one, I wish there were a negative star and two I wish I could get my money back!
Great app but App support nonexistent
I have asked questions several times, but no reply. It looks like there is no support for this app. Sad, because it early is a great app! How else can you hear your wife say "I'm coming" while you sleep in the other room?

Most definitely needs work. Unable to locate a delete function to clear the recording. Record time to short! Overall not impressed.

Needs some work
The idea is good but needs to fix a serious flaw before I would recommend this to anyone. If someone talks then stops talking that is considered an interruption. If you get too many interruptions the program posts the error and will not clear and you can't use the program again. Also the lock out function doesn't work. The interface is nice and simple which is why I bumped the rating up to 2 stars. I would wait for the next revision before buying.

Buggy
When it works it's an OK app, but it was buggy to begin with, and with each new iOS upgrade gets progressively worse. I'm on iOS 5.1 and can get Private Ear to work about 30% of the time now. Restarting the phone used to be a sure fix, but even that doesn't always work now. There doesn't seem to be much activity by the developer to keep the app functional. I would recommend not purchasing this app until the developer gets it to where it again reliably performs its basic functions.

Worst App, EVER!
Terrible design and broken functionality. Looks like it hasn't been updated since 2008 (maybe even 1998). Truly awful...

For 1.99 the app should not require a restart every time one uses it.......
Running in the background
I find it to work very well but it would be nice if there was a way to keep it recording in the background so if the phone is discovered and somebody hits the home button it won't be evident that it's recording.
Just okay
It won't let me resume from where I left off listening if I have to go to home screen. Records okay but the forward and back does not work.
It's good but not great...
It does what I want (just bought the app) but it NEEDS better quality recording. Please make it record better quality sound. I will give more stars if updated.
Works Well
It works well on my phone. Only small prob is that it sometimes has a file that is 0kb taking up space. Other than that, it's great! Maybe a version of this using the video function the 3GS already has & the 3G just started having (unlocked & unjailbroken) would be even better.

I works for me though I need to test it some more. I just purchase it today and test it for a short while and I like it. Speed of apps could be better.
Okay but still has GLITCH
The app works okay and I've been able to listen to my files however after you record your file and you walk to listen to it, the app shuts down and takes me to my home screen. Private Ear won't let me finish listening to my files until i reboot my iPhone.
Recommend the developers take a look at this!

Works on the phone, but download client does not work and no reply from Excelltech
I have sent 4 emails of the last 2 weeks and no response at all. I agree with above. The file does me no good if I cant download it.

So far so good. I like that the actual recording also have a current recording time to when it had been recorded. Although u should keep it charged so ur phone run out of battery. And keep it out of sight so no one will see it and take ur phone. I highly suggest u take my advise.
