I used the dictaphone to record an extremely important meeting.
I now have to pay to have the recording extracted from my iPhone since it keeps freezing and I cannot extract the recording off my iPhone to my PC

Don't do it
I couldn't get this app to work on my iPad. The release notes said I could delete and reload. The notes were wrong! Note to self AND YOU, read reviews first. I only wish two things, one, I wish there were a negative star and two I wish I could get my money back!
Great app but App support nonexistent
I have asked questions several times, but no reply. It looks like there is no support for this app. Sad, because it early is a great app! How else can you hear your wife say "I'm coming" while you sleep in the other room?

I think I've got it right: It only allows 30 seconds of recordings i.e If you speak for 40 seconds it fails to record the last 10 seconds. So you need to have a stop-watch and turn off the noise every 30 seconds. Then to listen to your recording select each 30 second chunk. I think the App's description is misleading. Look elsewhere.

Most definitely needs work. Unable to locate a delete function to clear the recording. Record time to short! Overall not impressed.

Needs some work
The idea is good but needs to fix a serious flaw before I would recommend this to anyone. If someone talks then stops talking that is considered an interruption. If you get too many interruptions the program posts the error and will not clear and you can't use the program again. Also the lock out function doesn't work. The interface is nice and simple which is why I bumped the rating up to 2 stars. I would wait for the next revision before buying.

Tried to catch my gf cheating
I put my iPad in my room for 3 day with this on. The test I did worked. it could work good but it failed me. it hit the max thresh hold of recording. I sat there for 20 mins clicking ok hoping to even just get a few recording but once it hit the limit it dump all of them. No autosave the set up was pointless. Good thing I set my computer to record too. Almost mess my one chance to catch gf to trust her or not. Now I have break up with my gf and this app didn't help me at all. If fixed with up date I would give 5 stars. Good app maby for a few hours not days...

Buggy
When it works it's an OK app, but it was buggy to begin with, and with each new iOS upgrade gets progressively worse. I'm on iOS 5.1 and can get Private Ear to work about 30% of the time now. Restarting the phone used to be a sure fix, but even that doesn't always work now. There doesn't seem to be much activity by the developer to keep the app functional. I would recommend not purchasing this app until the developer gets it to where it again reliably performs its basic functions.

Terrible design and broken functionality. Looks like it hasn't been updated since 2008 (maybe even 1998). Truly awful...

Everything written in review is absolutely right. Total waste of money and time, its a kind of scam.
Not working
App worked well then locked up, reinstalled won't record, locks up and jumps out of program.
Please refund - not working. Looking at prev notes from other customers you should take this app off til you work out bugs and stop charging for an inferior product.
